Hi all!
Let's assume we have an archer with a BAB of +11, who thus has three attacks using the full attack action. We also have a charcter armed with some melee weapon, with the Combat Reflexes feat and a Dex of 14, who so can make three attacks of opportunity in a round. These two characters stand next to each other (the melee guy threatens the archer) and they are in combat.
The archer starts and for some reason or another doesn't choose to take a 5 foot step to retreat before firing, but shoots from his original square at his opponent. He has three attacks against him, but how many attacks of opportunity does his enemy get?
Three, because the three attack throws should be considert three different opportunities?
Or only one, because although there are three attacks, they should be considered only one opportunity?
My guess is three attacks of opportunity, but I'm not sure. I know of no relevant rules text. Is there some sage advice on this or something similar?
Thanks.
