Are Nick Logue's Promises of Refunds Empty?

Nick Logue's stat block clearly states the his is immune to Calling Out.

Apparently, I missed that. It says it only functions when he is Delaying his Action, but he's been doing that for a couple of years now.

I didn't spot it at first, listed beneath the Greater Fleece ability...

While I'm as disappointed as anyone, I don't think he set out to fleece anyone -- Sinister Adventures going belly-up looks to me to be him simply biting off way more than he could chew.

The illustrations alone most likely set him back thousands of dollars, and he is still writing adventures, as far as I know. Publishing involves a very different skill set, being a good game designer does not make you a good publisher, and vice versa. It doesn't automatically make you a bad publisher either, but they are separate skills.

Having a company go under is a bad thing, and given that at least one of his e-mail addies was tied to his now vanished website, it is likely that much of the recent mail to him has been lost.

At least two companies are looking to pick up the Sinister Adventures line. They may yet see the light of day.

The other e-mail address, however, was not tied to Sinister Adventures, and Nick posted that address just three weeks ago, asking anyone needing a refund to contact him there. He promised, "No refund left behind!"

It's that particular promise I'm questioning. I no longer care whether or not Razor Coast ever sees print. I simply want him to return my money to me for both Razor Coast and Ebon Shroud.

When Nick promised to return people's money, was that just another example of him "simply biting off way more than he could chew"?

Actually, I suspect its pre-april fools misdirection for a legitimate announcement which likely does not directly relate to what everyone leaps to the conclusion its about. :)

Agreed Wicht.

My hopes are that this will be coolness.

My (more realistic) sadness is that this will be bullcrap. I worry that, given this: In the Mind of a Mad Man!!!: Did Nick Logue burn people with pre-orders and kill his repution with Razor Coast fiasco? and the whole debacle of Sinister, that LPJ is putting bad after bad.

If it's what we hope it to be, then yay!

If not, then "eff" them both...but especially LPJ for playing with us...very bad form...and not at all in the spirit of April Fool's Day.

I mean, Nick's been "April foolsing" us since the release of his damn company....but for LPJ to turn a debacle into a disaster? Bad, bad form. On any day.

Here's hoping LPJ is not a douche.

Here's hoping he's not "April foolsing" us regarding something few, if any, have any sense of humor about.

Sometimes...

Sometimes...

Crap ain't funny.

....and then fans go out of their way to point out exactly how much of an arse you are.

So, LPJ, you have either a prospective customer in the making at this point...or you're about to really piss off a person who is vocal in the RPG community.

Let's see how it goes, shall we?

I hope you, and your company, are not a gigantic (April) fool.
