D&D 4E Are Talents Trees still in 4e?

In the first days of 4e was mentioned that it would have used something similiar to the d20 modern/SWSE talents trees, but in the late news I have seen nothing about then.
Someone is able to tell me if they know something about them? Are still in 4e? were they removed? I just hope they weren't talking about powers when they said talent trees. 4e Powers have nothing to do with talents.

Thank you.

Hmm... Well we haven't seen much of the feat-system... Perhaps that is where the Talent-Trees lie, or perhaps in the Paragon Paths and Epic Destinies (I would put my money there).

I have seen a photo of two pages from the PHB detailing some Wizard powers. Absolutely no indication of the existence of Talent Trees a la Star Wars Saga, it's just a humongous list of powers sorted by level and alphabetically.

I suspect the total of Wizard powers in the PHB is less than 100 compared to the 300+ Wizard spells in the 3.5 PHB. On the other hand a lot spells has been redesigned at Rituals.

I am really beginning to think actually it is the Paragon and Epic that are Talent Trees.

Base Class, mainly based around your class abilities, skills and powers, so no Talent Tree.

Paragon Paths and Epic based around refining who your character is, Talent Trees can help refine this even more.

It was revealed in the discussion of Rogue "builds" that there aren't actually talent trees, although there are related powers (see the Rogue powers that gain extra benefits depending on whether you've chosen the Strength or Charisma option).

Cheers!

Well, this sucks.
Another point for the "4e sucks" column.
Huh what? They replaced a straight-jacket Tree with a suggested Build of powers and feats (thereby allowing greater flexibility in character design), and you put this in the "4E sucks" column? Did you think that one through all the way?

I agree.

I was hoping they simply gave them out at even levels or something (since we've only seen NPCs and 1st-level characters). To remove the talents is to remove the modular system that Saga has. If what the above poster says is true, than now we are going to be forced to use those clumsy alternate class abilities and whatnot when the landslide of sourcebooks are released.
