Are the ECL/LA ratings for these races accurate?

I'd like a second (and third and fourth and...) opinion on whether or not the ECL/LA ratings I've given these races are fair.

Thanks.

Here ya go:

Avari (Silvan Elves)
· +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom
· Medium-size (6’ tall)
· Base speed 30 feet
· Low-light vision
· Immunity to sleep spells and enchantments and non-magical diseases. Sindar, as all Elves, are immune to aging. They do not sleep, meditating instead for about three hours every day.
· +2 racial bonus on Saving Throws vs. fire and cold effects.
· +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. +4 racial bonus on Wilderness Lore, Knowledge (Nature), and Perform (Sing) checks.
· Magical skills are considered cross-class skills for Avar Elves.
· Automatic languages: Silvan, Sindarin, Westron
· Level Adjustment: +1

Noldor (High Elves)
· +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom, +4 Presence
· Medium-size (6’ to 7’ tall)
· Base speed 30 feet
· Low-light vision
· Immunity to sleep spells and enchantments and non-magical diseases. Noldor, as all elves, are immune to aging. They do not sleep, meditating instead for about three hours every day.
· +2 racial bonus on Saving Throws vs. fire and cold effects.
· +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. +4 racial bonus on Appraise and Craft checks.
· Magical skills are considered class skills for Noldor elves.
· Noldor elves can telepathically communicate with sentient creatures with line of sight range.
· Because of their dual nature as both physical and spiritual beings, they can see and interact with ethereal creatures and objects.
· Automatic languages: Quenya, Sindarin, Westron
· Level Adjustment: +3

Peredhil (Half-Elf)
· +2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, +2 Presence
· Medium-size (5’ 6” to 6’ 6” tall)
· Base speed 30 feet
· Low-light vision
· Half-Elves only need four hours of rest a day, meditation for those who choose immortality, sleep for mortals.
· +1 bonus feat at 1st level
· +1 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. Magical skills are considered cross-class skills for Half-Elves.
· +4 bonus Skill Points at 1st level and +1 bonus Skill Point per level thereafter.

Sindar (Grey Elves)
· +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom, +2 Presence

They look pretty good. For all those races, it looks like the most substantial benefit is the increased ability scores. The Aasimar is ECL +1, and has a net +4, so is a good comparison. All your races look like they are about in line with that level of power.

I like the name Presence to replace Cha. Thats pretty cool, and it more directly represents what Charisma is in 3rd edition anyway.

Thanks...

Thanks for the input!

Yes, Presence is what I renamed Charisma in my Middle Earth D20 conversion.

I considered putting this question in the house rules section, but I'm not really submitting these as a house rule; I'm trying to figure out if they mess with the established races and the rules in general.

Keep the comments coming.... ;)

Just remember that a bonus to a physical stat is potentially more unbalancing than a bonus to a mental stat... at least, I agree with the PHB on that.

I sorta agree with this... but CHA is really defined as this anyway, so I don't think it really needs changing. And a change like this might confuse people... and personally, I don't the sound or look of PRE.

Well, since these races are from my Middle Earth D20 conversion and the original Middle Earth Role Playing game used Presence, I kinda feel justified in using the stat name. Also, Presence seems to fit the Middle Earth flavor. Some beings in the world--Sauron, Galadriel, Gandalf the White--just have a tangilbe...well, presence about them.

Anyway, back to the ECL/LA scores. Considering that many of the abilities that the races get are rather low key (except for the ability bonuses), do you think I'm being fair here? I want Noldor and Sindar to be powerful races, but I don't want to overcompensate....

Bump! :D

I think they are a little to high. Someone has to disagree right?

THe high elf (noldor) is way to high. The bonus are all neat but a 4th level human mage will blow through a 1st level noldor mage.
I think they are probably a +2. THey're most useful (and potentially unbalancing ability) is the see etehreal creatures.
Does this mean all invisible cretaures or just ethereal?

The grey elf sindar may not be a +2 either. I would really playtest this one. My opinion is that this is on the strong side of +1 but not a +2.

These modifications are really neat but they are mostly flavor bonuses not combat unbalancing abilities. THe ECL's are for making fair fights and a +4 to shipbuilding checks isn't going to sway to many battles.

Just my opinion, please note that I am wrong an awful lot of the time.
