Are the Monsters in the the Creature Catalogue OGC?

Man-thing

First Post
I guess my question is asked in the title but are the monsters stored on the Creature Catalogue hosted site "open game content".

Thanks

The e-mail response I got when I asked a couple years ago was no for names and text. So stat block entry info and combat entry info would be yes, although I don't remember a link for the OGL with a section 15 to cite in re-use.

He also mentioned as a not so subtle plug that everything in the Tome of Horrors was 100% OGC though, including names and descriptions.

IMO, since most are fan conversions of monsters from wizards PI material (well, old TSR, but the same nonetheless), they aren't OGC.

That would be my guess. Still, it would be nice to get some sort of ruling on the new monsters.

There is a WotC conversion license for turning old critters into d20 compliant things though. It is not the best written document unfortunately.

you know, oddly enough, i really don't know.

but i suspect hellhound is correct. WotC, to the best of my knowledge, has never objected to the site, but when the Tome of Horrors was going to be published there were a lot of negotiations.
