Sorry if it's weird to ask that, but it occurred to me that since humans come from Sarlona they don't seen to have enough genetic variation to have multiple skin colors, and aside from the artificer girl from the 4e player guide no other black person come to mind. thanks.

Jaela Daran, for one, but I know what you mean. I feel D&D in general seems to lack much illustrated racial differences when it comes to humans. It may be that I'm imperceptive, though, and haven't spent much time looking for it specifically.

Some DnD settings made a point to introduce variation in humanity and others didn't. Eberron hasn't seemed to stress color but I believe some artists have tried to have multi-hued parties. Sarlona is a continent though, and should have variation over time and geography. If you add in millennia in Khorvaire and the introduction of genes from orcs and elves, you should be able to say that humanity comes in all its hues.

The artists just aren't showing variation.

As said, the artists just aren't showing enough, but they are supposed to be around; Jaela aside, I'll point to the Cannith Heir on the Dragonmarked cover.

As has been noted, Sarlona is a large continent with considerable environmental diversity. Humans didn't arrive in a single wave; The people of Valenar and southeastern Cyre have Khunan roots (an arid desert land), the Demon Wastes/Shadow Marches are drawn from Ohr Kaluun; and the Five Nations are largely split between Dor Maleer & Rhiavaar (rocky and cold region; these people have deep roots in Lhazaar and Karrnath) and Corvagura and Pyrine (fertile jungle and plains, with stronger roots in Aundair and Breland). And of course, all of these have mingled over the course of thousands of years; while Valenar is the only bastion of Khunan culture, Khunan settlers certainly left their roots behind to move deeper into the Five Nations, just as Ohr Kaluunan stock from the Shadow Marches was folded into Breland.

You also have humans from the Seren Islands, which were seeded by the dragons long before humanity came to Khorvaire; I can't find the image, but certainly the mini of the Seren champion has dark skin.

So essentially, the principle is that Khorvaire's a melting pot and you can find whatever you're looking for somewhere.
