Chaos Disciple, although I don't think this thread is the place for discussing your ideas (because it will derail the thread), I would be interested in a healthy and less-restrained debate on them. Those are the ten largest software companies in the world. They are companies who's fortunes are based in software, something that exists in an entirely digital form. In light of their existence the argument quote "I guess I can sum this up by saying that I do believe ALL digital media (software including pdf. mp3, programs, games,) is worthless." is utterly and profoundly ignorant.

This argument is so patently absurd in fact that find it hard - no impossible - to believe anyone would entertain it. The only other logical deduction is that the writer is trolling. If you are not familiar with the term Chaos I will spell it out to you - trolling is making a statement or series of statements so manifestly absurd or patently idiotic that they invite and / or sorely tempt the respondents to your posts to directly insult the writer. The acrimony these posts create make the already difficult job of moderating the board and maintaining civility that much more difficult.

If you are trolling please stop.

EDIT: As a professional who's livelihood is entirely dependent on "worthless digital media" as you put it I take your comments as a direct insult to my person. Such is not allowed here in case you need any other reasons to stop.

First I dont troll for insults
I do know my posts can ignite contraversy but I dont actually post it to attract mean replies. My intention is to encourage a civil discussion.
If unpleasant replies result I apologize to moderaters for the trouble


Now Im going to shock you here because I really do believe it when I make the statement "digital media is worthless" for the reasons I previously mentioned.

I realize that my opinion on this subject is different than most peoples.
I did not intend to insult anyone in the software proffession and I apologize to any one who felt that way.

Obviously the success of the companies you mention is support that my veiws are not shared by very many people.

But the fact other people choose to put a value on this digital information and I dont is only different opinions.
