Voted Hardcore, I play a different game each week, DM D&D FR 4E, Pathfinder, M&M and GM Shadowrun. I have hundreds of rpg books and now only buy what looks interesting to me, for reading or playing.
Know what the "Forge" is and largely ignore it.

SERIOUS: Owns many game books, perhaps a few shelves worth. Buys books on a semi-regular basis, but selectively (and not necessarily to play; may be for "idea-mining," entertainment reading, etc). Thinks about RPGs frequently, even daily, but may go days or even weeks without picking up a game book or playing. Plays frequently but probably not more than once a week, and only one campaign at a time. May or may not go on internet forums frequently. May or may not know what "The Forge" is.

This is me to a tee. Though could someone tell me what "The Forge" is? Forgive my ignorance. :)

Folks, the Forge thing was a bit of a joke. It is NOT meant as a serious barometer of "gamitude."
A couple tips on posting at Enworld:

You gotta put one of those nifty little smiley faces after a sentence so people know not to take what you said seriously, or they won't know that you are joking. I've had my share of bannings and warnings here because I thought my post was obviously a joke and I didn't use those cool smiley faces. I've never had this problem on other forums when posting via computers for the past 15 years; most people seem to get a joke when they read it...it seems to be limited to RPG forums only.

For some reason a lot of RPG gamers take everything seriously & way too literally. When making a poll thread, you need at least 25 poll choices or else people are going to criticize you for not having the exact poll choice to fit their need. We don't understand "generalization". So it is impossible to simply pick 1 out of 3 choices because we are way too complex to be simplified like that. That leads us to feeling the need to explain in great detail why we couldn't pick an option or why we picked an option but it isn't the correct option.

And finally, we like to argue...a lot. We can agree with you 100% but we'll play devils advocate because Asmodeus is cool as hell. So for example, I might know that I'm a serious gamer, but I'll claim to be a casual gamer just to get you to point out how I'm not. But then I'll argue with you about it like any serious gamer would. But I'll stick to my guns and claim to be a casual gamer until we've reached the point where one of us finishes the debate by saying, "lets agree to disagree".

This is why I don't post polls....it's way too complicated. :p

The Forge.

It is one of the most (in)famous websites dedicated to indie RPGs, run by Ron Edwards, creator of Sorcerer RPG (among others) and the infamous GNS Theory (Gamist, Narrativist, Simulationist). I don't know how long the Forge has been around, but probably 10 years or more.

p.s. I've never been a major participant but my sense is that it is much less quiet than it used to be.

Serious, albeit it "heavy" serious. I play about three times a week. Daily I both pick up RPG books and visit relevant websites.

I fall short of Hardcore because I don't buy books on a monthly basis, not even when my income allows it. Nor do I own hundreds of books.

...

Damn I just counted, it's over 220 RPG books, not counting pdfs. Ok so I'm actually Hardcore, with the sole exception that I don't buy books monthly.
