Are you buying a DDI subscription or not?

I will be getting the magazine subscription, as I think I'll get a lot of use out of it.

I may also ask my players if they want to contribute, as I'm DMing, and in turn promise to share stuff with them as it comes out.

Is anyone else a little surprised that the majority of voters on this poll are not subscribing? I don't plan on it either btw. There is very little of that content i would use as a DM. I'm already running the H1 series of adventures, and that will take us forever to get through, so i don't need Dungeon. I haven't subscribed to Dragon since the early 90's, and don't see the need to now. What i would do though is pick up the print compendiums of the best articles. I can wait.

The VTT has the potential to be very, very cool, but until i hear that it is up, running and stable, i consider it vaporware.

I've been back & forth on this for the past few months. While no doubt I think in general the price is very good for the amount of content you will get, I've not found very much of it all that useful for *my* game

Dungeon is really the big reason (along with no virtual game table) for me not subscribing at this time.

Do keep in mind that other polls have shown a fairly even split on these boards between those playing 4e and those playing 3e, and those playing 3e will practically all vote not subscribing in this poll. Taking that into consideration, DDI is looking pretty.

I think 'most' of them won't be voting. Of course some will, and that certainly affects the results. I suspect the numbers for actuall 4e players are well represented by the fairly even split we saw in the 1st 24 hours of this poll.

Hmm. It would be interesting then to see a poll of 4e players only who are subscribing or not.

I'm not surprised, given that print Dragon and Dungeon had about a 2-3% pickup rate among D&D players (generously estimating a combined total of 50 000 subscribers and conservatively estimating 2 million D&D players world-wide*)

So to me, that so many are planning on subscribing, is indicative of a very high interest among the player base.

* IMO and all that, and the numbers pulled from my ear/estimated/guessitimated/what have you/ and all that. :D

Well, getting a 42% confirmation rate among your prime target audience is a major win in any online marketing survey. If they convert even 15% of their target audience then the gang at WOTC will be dancing in the aisles.

A 42% "yes" is not cause for concern, it is champagne and cigars time.

And lest we forget, this is an EnWorld poll. :)

I am definately planning to get a subscription, as the magazines are a goldmine of info, especially Dragon, and the compendium is exeptionally usefull both for character and adventure building. The only issue at the moment is the exchange rate, looking at a 20% drop this month so far against the dollar
