Are you buying a DDI subscription or not?

I voted "No."

Reasons:

2) I spend enough time online as it is- I prefer my gaming resources to be physical.

3) Haven't heard of anything they're offering that I want.

No, I was planning to do so but the current economic uncertainty has lead to me cutting out many discretionary purchases. It's too bad, because I enjoyed the free content, and it made me more interested in 4e than I otherwise would have been.

That is the way I understand it. With one minor thing...The person will get access to the compendium that should have that skipped years worth of material in it. Now all the adventures from Dungeon will probably NOT be in the compendium, but most of the crunch stuff will be, and the compendium probably won't tell what issue of Dragon or Dungeon something appeared, so if you wanted that full back issue you would have to guess or search the old TOCs to find out and buy that single back issue.

I could be wrong, as I have not checked the updated compendium to see if Dragon or Dungeon issue numbers are included in it in that data field.

They are, at least for now. WOTC wants you to go buy the original source of the crunch. ;) (And it's been said that you can still use the Compendium as an index, it just won't show the crunch to non-subscribers.)

Regarding the poll, I'll subscribe eventually, but I'll let the early adopters go first and see how it works out for them technically.

I want Dragon and Dungeon and the character builder. I don't really care about anything else (though the compendium could come in handy at some point, but I'm planning on buying most, if not all, of the books anyway ...).

To me, it's worth it just for the mags. Yeah, they're not hardcopies, but I live overseas and a sub (incl. s/h) for the hardcopies was significantly more than what they're going to charge for DDI.

That's pretty close to my answer, with the difference being about online time. For me I'm spending a lot less time online than I used to; I can't justify the cost. When I am online I prefer to spend my time here and can easily justify the cost of my CS account.

2009 will be a interesting year to witness.

Not subscribing, I mean honestly...the playtest articles are cool...but they should be free, why am I paying to test content that I will probably be buying again.
...Because you want early looks at classes? I'd have paid for the Barbarian playtest even though I'll be buying PHBII. I love to see game design at work.

Personally, I'm trying to save money, so I'm not going to subscribe until the next class playtest. Or they come out with something involving druids. I'm a sucker like that.

I was all excited when it was announced, but now I'm thinking not so much.

The content isn't bad, but it's not great either.
I can live with just books -- and this forum.
