D&D (2024) Are you going to buy the new 2024 D&D Core Books

Do you plan on getting the new D&D core books in 2024?

Sure, maybe, but I'm still goijg to buy them unless they'd something off the wall like reprint 4E or decide to backtrack on racism.
That’s a valid choice. I just think it’s too soon to know they won’t do something off the wall. I think we can safely assume the 2024 rules won’t be a reprint of 4e and that things like alignments tied strictly to species are out for sure. So I understand being confident that it’ll be acceptable for you. I just think it’s prudent not to take confidence for surety.

I am not accusing you of anything, I am saying no one is policing your thoughts, they are reacting to what you wrote, whether they got that right or not
Well, no, up until now you’ve been saying “you can think whatever you want but when you type it in a forum post, it is no longer limited to thinking,” which is what I responded to. I did not type anything resembling “people who disagree with me are stupid” into a forum post, so this comment is irrelevant.

Well, if it’s also more expensive than the one you use now, it would make sense to stick with the one you use now unless the improvements are significant enough to justify the higher price. I think that’s what people are saying, they’re not seeing enough improvements to justify the new purchase (for them. Obviously everyone will have different thresholds).
Yes I get that, my bar is really low. I’ve bought every new edition since 1990 included 4th (which I played one session of). It would have to be really terrible for me not to give it a chance.

The cost benefit ratio is pretty sharp though. Unless you’re not playing regularly in which case none of it is particularly good value.

yes, do you disagree with that?

My thoughts are my own, and I should not be policed on them
and I pointed out that people are reacting to your posts, not your thoughts. Whether their interpretation of your post is accurate does not change that

The cost could be more or less significant to different people depending on their income, and how much of it they are willing/able to allot to hobbies and leisure activities. The cost/benefit ratio may be very heavily weighted in favor of benefit for you, and equally weighted in favor of cost to someone else.
