I am play once a week (weekday) in the campaign where I DM, and about once every 3 weeks in another campaign, where I get to be a player (weekends).

I wouldn't mind playing more often, but I doubt I could find the time between work, wife and munchkin, so I am fairly happy about it.

At one time southern Vermont had a strong gaming community. However, we are all now in in late 20's to early 40's and family has taken over.

From the peak (2000-2002) I used to play 1-2 times a week with a variety of games (Greyhawk, Darksun, Champions and others) I am reduced to 1 a month I play Heroclix and have a very slow PbP happening (sorta) here and that is it.

Its almost depressing.

So I voted for More DMing and playing.

PS- The worst of it, last fall I had a handful of people come to me asking for me to run Eberron for them and now that I am ready to again they have disappeared into the mists..... sucks.

I voted for all three "more" options, but that's not the whole truth.

I'm rather satisfied with my group's "theoretical" game frequency of once per week, on Wednesday evenings (though the holidays take a bite out of that). What I am dissatisfied with are:

  • The number of sessions that are cancelled because people have lives. I mean, I can't really blame the others for it, especially the ones with small kids, but I'd rather not have as many cancellations.
  • The length of the sessions. Our "formal" starting time is at 7 pm, but people often show up late, and of course we often eat a bit and do small talk before we get going. So we're lucky to get started before 8 pm. And we rarely play longer than to 10 pm, sometimes as long as 11. I so miss our old "3-to-3" gaming sessions, starting at 3 pm and playing to 3 am.

We play once a month. Largely due to almost all of us being married, half of us having kids, and only about two of us keen to DM. I am currently DMing, and have ~2 weeks left of "not being a parent". The other DM has one kid already, and a second on the way.

Still, I do online gaming (PbP). Whilst it is not the same, it does quench the hunger a little :p

I'd like to game more frequently. I'm happy with how often I am running a game but I'd like to play more often. At the moment I am DM'ing a fortnightly 3.5E SCAP campaign. We're about 20 sessions in and it's going really well.

I'd love to be able to play in one of my players' 4E campaign that he runs fortnightly as well. That would work out to gaming once a week, which would be pretty much ideal for me.

Unfortunately with a full-time work, a wife and 15-month-old daughter and lacrosse during the winter months, playing once a week really isn't an option. So until I can give up work or quit playing lacrosse I'm stuck with once a fortnight. While it's not as much gaming as I would like, it's still a lot better than nothing! :)
