From time to time, I hear that people think Bastion Press books should be in the $15 range based on 96 pages. This somewhat surprises me, considering that Wizards' 96-page books are $19.95 and they're in black and white.
Well, like I said, I'd have definitely preferred $19.95, B&W for Arms and Armor. (For Minions, $25 and full color was just fine.)
I suspect that the reason a lot of people think $15 is that the difference between a 96-page book and a 64 page book (like, say, Green Ronin's Arcana, which was $15) is very hard to tell, especially when you're just holding one of them. Even on the shelf they look "about" the same size. (It doesn't help that the red stripe on the cover of Minions is actually smaller than the spine, either.)
I think that mentally, gamers differentiate in size at somewhere around 128 pages - I know I can judge that size because of years of buying GURPS books. I find myself sorting stuff into mental categories like "Hardback" (core rules, OA, FR), "Thin Hardback" (Atlas' Touched by the Gods or the FFG Legends and Lairs), "Thick Softback" (Magic of Faerun, AEG's Evil, Atlas' En Route), and "Thin Softback" (WOTC classbooks, Monsters of Faerun, Mongoose's Encyclopedia Arcane). Oh, and "Module" for all the staplebound stuff.
Anyway, hope my totally unscientific assertions helped even a little bit.
