D&D 3E/3.5 Arms and Equipment to 3.5

Is there anywhere online to get a conversion of prices from 3.0 to 3.5 for the Magic stuff in Arms and Equipment? What about other 3.0 stuff (like Sword and Fist - one player really wants one of those shocking rings, and I'm thinking the pricing on that should be much higher)

Since nothing in the Arms & Equipment Guide is Open Content, there are no legitimate conversions unless WotC posts it themselves.

Several things (I hesitate to say "many") have been updated in newer books. Complete Adventurer has a few items, Races of Stone and Races of Destiny have a few more, and so on. Most of those have been the Alchemical substances, though, and not the honest-to-goodness magic items.

That being said, if you think the prices are too low, that's what being the DM is about.. adjusting those things to fit your campaign world.

Aren't there also item creation rules? I'm not familiar with them (never tried) but maybe you can come up with better pricings.

Actually, Code Monkey Publishing has updated the information in the 3.0 Arms and Equipment Guide for their 3.5 data set for eTools (I'm not sure whether they've done it for PCGen). However, pretty much all they did was change any rules issues that changed. They didn't do any rules balancing.

I actually thought that the point of buying gaming materials was to aleviate myself from having to do that. It's not some vague personal feeling I have, some things have explicitly changed (skill boost items are now 5X more expensive, for example, and the multiplier for continuous items based on original duration, for another)

I'd consider that a special case, and one which requires that you be using eTools.

Yes and no. Most published books contain a mix of materials. Some fit the style of game I am going for, some do not, and some need adjustment to fit. Very few books contain nothing but "pure gold as is" content (IMHO).

Do I what I will be doing as we convert slowly over to 3.5. In my world of Greyhawk, items that were created using 3.0 rules are priced as listed. The items that created in 3.5 will be priced as listed. Basically, a new method of item creation is spreading the world and will take hold as we change books. I find the 3.0 and 3.5 can live side by side with little conversion. Our 3.0 ranger wants to stay 3.0 for the time being. There is more than one way to skin that cat.
