Arrows of spell storing

As I understand the magic item creation rules, you can craft 50 arrows (or other ammo) just like crafting a weapon. Spell storing is a +1 equivalent weapon enhancement that lets a spellcaster place a 3rd or lower level spell in the weapon so that it goes off when the weapon hits. My question is, could a wizard make a batch of fifty +1 arrows of spell storing, then spend a week or so putting spells in each one, then lets the party archer shoot them off in battle, releasing a spell each time without further interaction needed from the wizard? It seems like a relatively cheap way to effectively turn the archer into a second spellcaster. Thoughts?

It doesn't mention that anywhere in the description.

Check page 113 of the PHB, under ammuinition.
Then check page 221 (under Ranged Weapons and Ammunition) and 223 (under Magic Weapon Special Abiltiy Descriptions, the very first paragraph) in the DMG.

That paragraph says "In addition to enhancement bonuses, weapons can have one or more of the special abilities detailed below."

Ammunintion =! Weapon

You can make them, but the spell can not be activated. The ammo has to hit the target and by that time the firer is no longer wielding the ammo. The DM might choose allow these to work automaticly, but normally these cannot be used to do a rapid fire barrage of hold persons

Spell Storing
A spell storing weapon allows a spellcaster to store a single targeted spell of up to 3rd level in the weapon. (The spell must have a casting time of 1 standard action.) Any time the weapon strikes a creature and the creature takes damage from it, the weapon can immediately cast the spell on that creature as a free action if the wielder desires. (This special ability is an exception to the general rule that casting a spell from an item takes at least as long as casting that spell normally.) Once the spell has been cast from the weapon, a spellcaster can cast any other targeted spell of up to 3rd level into it. The weapon magically imparts to the wielder the name of the spell currently stored within it. A randomly rolled spell storing weapon has a 50% chance to have a spell stored in it already.

Strong evocation (plus aura of stored spell); CL 12th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, creator must be a caster of at least 12th level; Price +1 bonus.

If you were Legolas and you had exotic weapon proficiency arrow, you could stab someone in the eye with your arrow, release the spell, and then fire it at someone else - otherwise, I'd have to agree with the rest that it won't work. ;)
