Ars Magica 5e, Rhine Tribunal, 1220

Walking down the small corridor and up quite a number of stairs, you find yourself looking at a stone wall, looking somewhat less aged than the stones around it and likely made of a different kind of stone.

(OOC - Argh! I coulda sworn I had that Lore in the final draft...I must have decided to pick it up later. Silly me! Sorry about that AM!)

Ilshana trots up behind Leo and the others and leans around them to see the stairwell end in its suspicious sort of way.

"This whole place turns into Hell every night," she says excitedly. "I wonder what it is that made them brick it off like that. I'm not much good magicking stone though."

Just in case, Ilshana does blink a few times to summon up the gifts of her heritage and stare beadily at the wall, just to see if it had any unseen qualities.

(Second Sight on yon wall)

Shayuri: No drama whatsoever. I find I have to re-look at everyone's character sheet anytime anyone makes a roll anyway :D.

There appears to be nothing illusionary about the door.. however, the slight magical feel of the covenant does seem to end at the wall, and a holy one, ordered and humble, begins at the wall.

Leo grumbles, a low rolling sound coming from deep within his chest. He looks at the unfitting wall wearily. "Surely some infernal nest, that spreads at night. Well, let us try to see what horrid hell lies hither." Leo intones forcibly in Latin, raising his voice as he slowly, in a soft effortless manner, walks to the wall and lays a paw on it, releasing the final syllables of the spell as he does and letting it descend on the construction.

[Leo once again attempts to spontaneously cast Undoing the Mason's Work. His ReTe is +14, which with his wounds comes to +11 I believe. He uses booming voice for another +1. He rolls a 1d10=1, followed by a 1d10=3, for 6+12=18. Now AM needs to modify by aura and divide by 2 :) The spell level is 5. I assume the penalty is not -9, and there is no enchantment, so Leo makes it. This brings Leo down to Tired (-1) in fatigue, considering that he's already a bit winded from the long-term fatigue due to not sleeping.]

As he touches the wall, a trumpet sounds from beyond, and a large opening forms in the wall, the stones sliding away and to the side to make room for the lion.

Leo stands at the edge of this new opening, and examines whatever it is that lies beyond. Anyone paying attention will notice his breath is a bit shallow.

A couple of young women in white habits stare at you as the door to a food-preparation chamber opens with a trumpets blast.

There is a moment of shocked silence. Then one of the young women makes a hand gesture to the others, and they start backing away, out one of the nearby doors.

"And lo!" Ilshana quickly blurted, popping up beside Leo and waving a hand beneficiently to those within the kitchen. "Do not be afraid, good...uh...staff of the Holy Kitchen! For we are but emissaries, appearing in the blast of a great horn from on high to deliver a message!"

She paused, one hand on Leo's leonine head, the other upraised and pointing skyward.

"His Grace will have a ham sandwich today after all. THUS IT IS SPAKEN!"

She nudged Leo and whispered from the corner of her mouth, "Psst. Close it!"

Not, Leo thinks, your typical hell dimension. Ignoring the jabbing half-fey at his side, Leo addresses the women in fluent Latin. "Fear not, good sisters. We come in peace." He smiles at them widely, inadvertently displaying his large, sharp, teeth.

Through the frozen smile, he mumbles to Ilshana. "No hands, silly!"

As soon as Leo's fangs are bared, a scream of 'Lion!' shrieks from the novices, and they run screaming for help through one of the doorways.

Leo scoffs, mumbling something about foolish mortals. As apparently there isn't even a single brave soul, he peers through the door, trying to feel the aura there and see if it's indeed holy, and have a quick look-around.

"'His Grace', you said" Leo glances back at Ilshana. "You think is a gateway to some bishop's place? How strange. Why would something like this appear in the middle of the covenant, and be covered by an Infernal regio at night, too!"

OOC: Does it appear that we can indeed close the door, and it will return to be a "wall"? How does the door appear from beyond the wall - is it an opening that opened in the wall, a secret door, what?
