Arsenal - Perpetrated Press

Azure Trance

First Post
I recently took a look at what new reviews had been posted and saw a new one by Psion on the book Arsenal by PPress. For some reason it really hooked me and I bought it that night. Arsenal is a type of magitech D20 weapons sourcebook. It's not just a smoothbore musket, it's a Disintegrator Rifle.

OK, so it might not well appeal to all of you. But I've been grown on Fantasy Comics, probably the most by JoeMads BattleChasers where the fantastic truly becomes fantastic. (ie, a flying prison where dozens of monks meditate to maintain a force field to secure the kingdoms most dangerous prisoners, battletech-esque wargolems from an ancient war...). A place where swords and magical firearms coexisting hits me in right spot.

Yes, Privateers Press or Swashbuckling Adventures do have stats for gunpowder weapons, giving it a renaissance feel - but if you want guns, why not go for the entire broad (magical) spectrum? ;D

There second product won't come out until Feb 2003 but it's titled Factory where robots will be detailed next. Calibretto? Hmmzt.

I checked out the site. I seems like kind of a fantasy meets sci-fi melding. This is something that has always interested me. I mean why can't we have modern magical worlds? If these interest you you might want to check out Ancient Awakenings. This guy has a really cool rational for technomancy.

I'm very disappointed. This should have been a great opportunity to simulate England's finest football team, but what the heck? It's just full of guns. Where are the d20 stats for Thierry Henry? What is Patrick Vieira's Intimidate skill? What about the Undead Central Defender template we were hearing so much about? Bah!!

Actually, I loved it...

The design was easy to read, interesting, and just plain FUN. The comics were a little disjointed, but that's a matter of taste.

The only thing I decided upon what that the maximum damage rating should be 2 instead of 5 (rating determines the number of dice damage).

Easily worth the money if your into this sort of thing...

Mr. Oberon
"The Biowraith hits you with his BlackBlight rifle and... Do you guys have more dice?"

I'm ordering this book sometime around new years(along with about 350 dollars worth of other stuff) from the shop on this site. IT looks awesome, and definitely seems like it could help make my Final Fantasy Style campaign.

I really like the Arsenal book. If I ever run a DragonStar campaign I will be including these weapons. One thing that would work well is that each type of gun has a specific damage type. Acid, cold, fire, etc. I think these would fit perfectly into an army run by a dragon. each dragon could outfit his/her troops with the same weapon as their breath weapon. I love this idea. :)

The perfect setting for material from Arsenal is SoulSaga.

What is Soul Saga you ask? It was a short lived comic book originaly published about a year ago. Rather than have me explain it you are better off going to the website: www.soulsaga.com

Look around the website until you find the gallery. The artwork is stunning and the storyline is not half bad (if you can manage to find the comicbooks).

Oddly enough, I was thinking of this exact same comic but couldn't remember the name. I only had issue #2 and #3 IIRC.

I emailed PPress and after FACTORY is either a vehicle/equipment book or a monster book. I asked for a monster book first of course.
