Hi all! :)

I just took a look at the art (thanks for the link) and I think you are all over reacting. I think there are at least a dozen great peices in there. I especially like the various mounted dwarves.

Of course it looks like there is nothing from Wayne Reynolds in there (which is disappointing in itself). I think overall it looks good and I can't understand some people being unduly harsh? But then again art is subjective I suppose.

Man, they really need to get rid of Dennis Cramer. I have nothing against the guy, but his art is godawful. Also, his art style does not mesh well with the style of the rest of the art.

Vinod Rams definitely has a bit of anime style going in his drawings, which is not necessarily a bad thing, if used properly. IMHO, he did a pretty good job with the Aasimar, Air Gensai, Fey'ri, and the Tieflings.

But, where are WAR and Lockwood?

I give a thumbs down. Nothing in comparison to the FRCS or silver marches. This is disappointing.

craptacular

that is what i think of it all.

there are a few decent images. the drow/moon elf duel, the orc warlord, and the shade look good.

the dwarves are some the worst portrayals of the stubby bearded folks i have ever seen.

i really thought that the forgotten realms products had some sort of unified artistic idea behind them. this product does not look at all like it belongs alongside the likes of the FRCS, MoF, and The Silver Marches.

pretty damned sad.

It's a real mixed bag, there are lot of this batch that I really don't find appealing. On the the other hand there are are several I really like. Dennis Cramer's "Rock Gnome" is neat. All of the Vince Locke stuff is very cool (well except the "Hammer Fist Feat" is that a halfling beating the crap out of a very tiny gimpy ogre?). All of his pieces have a whimsical quality about them that I find very appealing. The half-drow and the half-elf hanging out together I find particularly amusing. Then there is Vinod Rams. I just find his stuff really cool. I liked his work in the Wheel of Time book, and I particularly enjoy the anime style he's using in several of these. I especially like the tieflings and the air genasi. I do wonder how common genasi are in the Realms, because I have to say I think I would crap my pants if that fire genasi walked into my bar.
