Art in the Revised Monster Manual that you'd like to see redone

The only thing I have against Luckwood's dragons are their maws. They're all blunt and boxlike.

I agree about the Titan and Nymph! And the Dryad, too! They look *human*. Where's some FEYness to them? Make them look unnatural, Inhuman, yet humanish.

I'd also like them to either LABEL what demon is what, or Something. Because I can't tell which picture in the MM is the Bebilith and which is the Retriever; both are spiderlike, and the description could go for either.

I dislike the Tarrasque. And I'd like to see more of the "grouped" Outsiders, ie demons, devils and celestials.

I'd definatly like to see more demons, devils and celestials. In addition, these are some beasties I'd like redone:
Vampire
Kuo-toa
Magmin (he does look like Ross Perot)
Basilisk (of course, I like my basilisks as serpents, the way they were intended)
Roper
Shadow
Dryad
Nymph
Tarrasque. Just give us the DiTerlizzi tarrasque from Monstrous Manual and I'd be happy

Things I'd like to see redone:
Hag - Small picture, not as detailed as I'd like to see.
Kobold- Make them look Dangerous, not sick lizard looking for food.
Magmin- He looks like Ross Perot. Give me less of a goofy face.
Treants- The look like... well, weak little sapplings. Gimmie Treebeard.

You know, with the exception of the hag, these are some of my favorite pictures in the MM. They have so much personality beyond just being monsters. For instance I had never wanted to play a kobold before I saw that picture, and now it's an idea that very much interest me. Personally I think the magmin's features convey very much the personality as described in the MM. Anyway we all have our own preferences, I just wanted to throw up a different opinion.


Pics I espcially love are the kobold, drider, teifling, phase spider, wight, yuan-ti

Pics I wish were different allip, bodack, morhg (because none of them really match the description) the fungus pic, gray render (don't like the full on profile shot), medusa, tarrasque (put your finger over his eye, and pretend his nostrils are eyes and you'll see why), vampire .

I agree that the Kobold picture holds character. But I don't think it should be a representitive picture of a Race. That picture strikes me as Meepo.

For me it's the owlbear. On the Wotc site there's a fantastic b&w drawing of an owlbear, but the MM instead got some muddy monstrosity without pupils.

Vampire - what were they thinking?
Xorn - Yum, my own arm is tasty!
Wyvern - too much beer, not enough KILL
Salamander - I just can't even figure this one out
Purple worm - needs to be BIGGER and SCARIER, like the frost worm pic
Phase Spider - its eyes make me laugh... it looks like Grimm, or Portney from Bloom County
Magmin - *sigh*
Manticore - the face should look more human... that's one of the most unsettling features of the manticore
Kuo Toa - anorexia is a horrible disease
Hell Hound - blarg... does this thing ever eat?

I think the Belker looks dorky. Like a mutated balloon. And I never liked how they did the Behir's legs. They look like they crammed too many legs together without spacing them out; I don't see How it walks.

I do think the Phase Spider has an interesting look to it. And, what Oni was saying about personality, I Like the Troglodyte picture. That kicks monkey. It just needs more of a crouch.

I *don't* think the Manticore's face should look like a bearded man, and the rest of it is a winged Thinger. Then it looks too much like a Lammasu or a Sphinx.

now don't get me wrong, it is a fine picture, but it isn't the suave classic (classic in the literary sense) vampire. You wouldn't need to look for the fact it doesn't have a reflection, picking it out wouldn't be a problem even in a dark crowded room, it's verging on looking like a zombie, what with the blue-green skin and all.

I never liked the outfit they put it in. Hell, it's frayed and looks like a dead albatros was strapped to its' back.
