Art of the Kill

Yay more weapon mastery stuff! I love these.

I especially love the poisoner, and that Warlock PP--my dark-pact drowlock will be very happy to get all those toys.

Whoa, that Harlequin Style feat is now a must have for Charogues IMO. For a halfling, combined with Defensive Mobility and Lost in the Crowd, you could be nigh unhittable for OA's.

I have to say I am growing to like the at-will modifying feats. Players use their at-will powers so often that being able to modify and change them allows a significant part of the game to change for the players, making it less repetitive and boring. I do think Martial Power should have had some though . . .

So, we now have this article, the Gladiator article, and Martial power.

Martial classes have gotten too much love.

When are we going to see the Multi-class feats for any other power source? Or Technique feats, for that matter.

It seems kind of odd that they wrote (Or re-wrote? Poison Master looks like something that would have been a SoW-style background.) the article to use PHB2-style backgrounds (the 4e equivalent of the "+2 to two skills" feats from 3.5), but required the Martial power source, which isn't represented by a class in PHB2, for so much of the stuff.

It may be because there are no martial classes in PHBII. Many of the articles offer stuff that the is not offered in the books, either ideas that didn't fit into the book for some reason, or player options for DM books like dragonomicon, manual of planes, etc.

Don't forget the Shadar-Kai article, both undead-related articles, and the Dhampyr article, none of which focused even a little bit on Martial classes.

I would expect to see other power sources get more love around the releases of Arcane, Divine, and Primal Power. Remember, we only got the Gladiator article a week or two before Martial Power came out, and it built a lot off of the Martial Power stuff.

Another thing to remember: the Technique-style feats were actually designed for Arcane or Divine Power. Everything we've seen in Dragon thus far has been the developers exploring a totally unforeseen possible design space.
