Sooo, does the preview copy mean that you can start talking about HoH now? I'm curious what sort of new base classes would be necessitated by horror fantasy, myself.

Sorry, that's "copy" as in "ad copy," not as in "there's a copy of the book available."

OK, it was expected. WW couldn't discount their RL books at 50%+ for more then 6 months for a reason...

Long live Ravenloft!

Ravenloft, I could see people mourning. But, the setting was dumped before and it was kept going by indviduals online (the Kargatane) until WW picked it up. It would not surprise me at all if the online community kept right on going. Especially if the already published material is as good as people say it is.

Yes indeed. The Ravenloft setting will dies ONLY when the fan community will. As the Kargatane did in the past, the Fraternity of Shadows will try hard at keeping Ravenloft alive (or undead, as you wish) on the net.

As long as fans have a place to get fan made material or discuss ideas with other fans, the setting won’t die. There is indeed plenty of fan made netbooks to ensure crafty DMs decades of gaming in the setting.

My concern is mainly about attracting new players, as many mentionned.

My pie-in-the-sky hope is that Arthaus folding means that the Kargatane may somehow again get their hands on the setting, but finance aside I don't even know whether they'd want to at this stage. Still, a bloke can dream...

Let me share the dream I wonder what the cost of the license is ?

Apart from the income loss you mention, what saddens me most about your post is that your art was always amazing. The Ravenloft line was truly blessed to have you and Talon Dunning!

I'm off to Gen Con in a matter of hours, but before I go, I'd like to thank folks for the generally positive comments for the Kargatane and our work on 3E Ravenloft. (And as for those with complaints... well, I know where you're coming from and generally agree.)

Warms my shriveled, lifeless heart, it does.

As for what this means for the Kargatane -- well, I dunno if it means anything in the end, but I suppose that's a discussion that we should go have.
