This is all going near opposite of what I expected. Even the version of it I put up on the WotC boards is more favorable to d20 than I thought it would be.

In my gaming circles here, I'm the only person I've found who buys much d20, and the only DM who uses any -which has made the option of being a player very frustrating. I've essentially nearly given up on playing DnD... I stick to running games.

Yet both here and on the WotC boards a lot of people are answering with preferences similar in one way or another to mine. I guess here is no major suprise as a d20 site, but the WotC forums usually seem to match the sentiment of the people I find locally.

Hmm. I'll happily consider anything a player wants to use, but I'd have to say I'm far more likely to give the nod to skills, spells, and feats than classes. And since prestige classes seem to be the major contribution most d20 products (or WOTC supplements) focus on, that means there's not much new stuff brought by the players in practice - I've inserted more than my players have.

I don't have anything against d20 material, on teh other hand entirely, but sicne there are pretty much anything out there, from quality to garbage I like to have a look at it and see the job put into it, reading as much of the book as I can.

I accept anything that comes to improve the game and is not a clear munchkin mecanism so I also disallow WotC materials sometimes (feats or spells).

D20 is great but now we may have problems with it like is said on the main page...

re

I pretty much stick to WotC materials with one exception: modules. I will use modules from just about any company if they are well-done.

I have found many of the spells and monsters from other systems have some serious balance issues. Since I don't like to spend my time perusing a book looking for unbalanced spells and monsters, I choose not to use many books that don't come from WotC.

Had to go with "other."

Partially, it depends on the campaign. But most of the time, my rule is this:

Use the core rules as a basis. If there's something else you want, be it a feat, a spell, a class, a skill, or what have you, bring it to me first. I don't care where it's from. I'll consider it on its individual merits, and if I feel it's not overpowered, and if it doesn't drastically clash with the feel of the world/setting in question, I'll allow it.
Exactly the same, but me vote liberal.

For 95% of my games, the core rules are sufficient (Monster Manual, Monster Manual II, Manual of the Planes, Dungeon Master's Guide, Players' Handbook). I won't consider any other materials, including some WOTC stuff such as Sword & Fist, even if I own a copy as in the case of the Arms & Equipment Guide unless I myself introduce them to the campaign for reasons specific to the campaign. In one of my campaigns I currently use the Arms & Equipment Guide (WOTC), Defenders of the Faith (WOTC) and Magical Medieval Society (Expeditious Retreat Press); in another, I use the Shaman's Handbook (Green Ronin) and Tome of Horrors (Necromancer).

If my players come to the game with a proposal to use a rule in a book I don't own to benefit their character, the answer will certainly be "no."

i don't use any d20 rules. Original D&D (1974) is the only true game. All the other editions are poor imitations of the real thing.

I will allow it only if the players bring it to me for approval. I have the option to either approve it or ban it.

I pretty much allow anything d20 if it works within the confines of the campaign. As a foundation, we use the core rules but I leave it open to let anyone in the group use an outside source. For the most part, they don't, however, because they like the core classes and can min/max with the best using them. ;)
