[Asgard issue 8] Call for Submissions!

Asgard magazine is ENWorld's free, fan-supported d20 magazine, released slightly faster than quarterly. You can download previous issues at this link.

We're hoping to release issue 8 some time during December, but we can't do it without the support of the ENWorld community. We need writers to propose and scribe articles, and artists to keep up the brilliant job they've been doing for the past 7 issues.

Asgard issue 8 will have a loosely Holiday-themed issue. The issue will probably total about 60 to 80 pages, and out of that we'd like 2 or 3 articles (maybe about 20 pages) that fits our theme. If you want to write an article about using Holidays in your game, or about gift-giving, or different sort of winter-themed spells, that'd all be cool. Also, since the holidays are all about being kind and generous, we're going to be hoping for lots of articles that focus on charismatic characters. The theme is very flexible, and is mostly intended to help people think of ideas they can write about.

Proposals for articles Asgard 8 should be submitted by Saturday, November 16. When you submit a proposal, please include requests for art to help us get the art assignments out early. Final drafts of articles will be due Saturday, November 30.

Once we get article proposals in, and have decided what illustrations we need, we'll send out a list to the artists who've helped us in the past. We'll also post the list here, and artists who want to claim a certain illustration should post here to claim dibs, so we don't end up with duplicates. Artists will have a good deal of leeway in the art pieces they submit, but we need to have a final art deadline of Saturday, November 30.

Finally, we need someone to do the cover illustration. If you're interested, submit a thumbnail sketch of your cover idea by November 16, and we'll pick the person who has the niftiest idea.

Send article or cover proposals to me, Ryan "RangerWickett" Nock at RangerWickett@hotmail.com I look forward to seeing your submissions, and I hope this Christmas-y issue will be the best one yet.

I'm a little shell-shocked from that guy crapping on my drow swimsuit illustration from #7, but stilll... sniffle... drafting up my submission right now.

I'll work on my proposal. But someone might want to do a historical article on the Winter Solstice. I'd volunteer, but the internet being what it is, I'm sure there's at least one poster here who has a PhD in the subject or something.

Though winter is cold for me too I do feel obliged to point out that a significant chunk of the globe finds December to be quite warm and plesant....

Yeah maybe us REAL southerners should write an article on what its like to have Christmas Barbeques and go to the beach to play with our new jetskis:)

How about an Article on Holidays in general.

Such a submission could include items such as the Winter, and Summer Solstice, Fertility Rites, and a generalist view of the Day of the Dead.

Also for a bit of Yule Time fun a Grinch who stole christmas sort of Adventure, or something....

I will look into something for you.

Ryan,

I sent in about a few ideas about a month ago. At this point, it looks like the spells are what's going to be ready for the issue. The rest are still kinda half-formed, and I have to mark assignments and move really close to the deadline for this issue. I'll get a few of the rest in for the next one though.

Oh yeah, and BUMP

If you've got the time and inclination, get something together for this people. Asgard is a great resource.

This is an official bump. You have been bumped. Those who do not heed this bump will be in violation of the ENWorld Conduct Policy article 3, section 17.

You have only a few days left, and I've received only a handful of submission ideas, and only two cover image proposals.
