well, i don't know about an article... but i think i did say you could use any monsters (what little there are) that i posted on the Creature Catalog Homebrew Site. :)

I have an Idea post a Contest (Much Like Teflon billy's Haiku contest and have the first, second, and third prize's poem get put into the magazine somewhere ( or if they chose a piece of fantasy artwork in a Winter/ Holiday Theme Perhaps give a theme set that would have to be fit to

Such as

Adventurers home for the Holidays
Dreaming of a White Christmas
Stuck in the Snow
Giving a Gift
Or a Half Orc Christmas Gathering :)

Just a thought

I thought about ( well I actually wrote some drivel about different holidays ( Day of the Dead, Yule, Beltane, and the like) but it was just that, pure and simple drivel

That is a good Idea an article about how each CORE race handles Winter Solstice (Human Yule) (Elves druidic rites?) Halflings ( Close knitt family gatherings where all come together) (Gnomes Winters Fool's Day :) ) (Dwarven stark utility gift giving by the hearth) (Half Orcs, Half Elves as which ever parent they grew up with though as loners Half orcs may not like the Yule Time chear)

Its a good Idea

I dunno, Orcs (and thus, half of the half-Orcs) might have Solstice Sacrifices or Freezing Season's End Hunts?

Savage Races' Yule celebration could be very Primal, dancing-around-teh-fire- and Roasting-Rudolph-like. :D

Or we could take a hint from Terry Pratchett and incorporate the Hogfather. :)

Also for a bit of Yule Time fun a Grinch who stole christmas sort of Adventure, or something....

I will look into something for you.

Max Stats, Grinch Prestige Class and a "Who"-template...? :)

A word of defense...It wasn't me

It was he,

That evil.

Weavel

Oh Its the Grinch of the Sunless Citadel

Who stole all your gifts, ands sweets, and holiday time gruel

Not I but He you see..that Bull

The One who stole the Sun from the Sunless Citadel

[ok end stupidness, and that sounded an aweful lot like a stupid Mel Brooks musical song or something]

I thought that Grinch who stole Christmas Adventure was a good Idea really..

Back on subject I am sure a Clan based Race such as Orks or Goblins Gnolls and the like are a "anima" based society While we need not get to involved in the Ork dilema the way I handle orcs is that they travel along with the herds of large herbivores as the travel over the plains, and have sacred holds in the Mountains where they have horded meat wood, coal, and what ever else the get from raiding civilization

I could see Orcs as having a Sacrificial Rite that they preform in each household such as the old Passover rites of the Jews sacrifice the best bull of the flock and rub its blood on the cave front or what have you.

Perhaps the burn the fat or the bones of the sacrifice as a religious act, and then communily eat the flesh of the Sacred Calf or what have you there to

Elves will probably have a Frolicking joyous service that is an attempt at calling forth the spring ( It could be Highly Amourous even) For wood elves this time of year would be hard, and they would look forward to celebrating with far off clans who come to a central place of safety ( Here we are back to the Sacred Haven or what have you)
