Ashin's Commission: The Great Escape!

*Ironwolf and the others continue smashing open the cells. In one, the villagers exit fearfully and gratefully. In another, one of them looks poised to strike at Ironwolf after the bars go down but ceases once the dark crystal is destroyed. In yet another, however, the semi-feral villagers assault their erstwhile saviours, but Michael reacts more quickly.*

(OOC: Michael is not surprised and wins the initiative.

@Heart of Artifice--Thanks for the praise, I'm never quite sure if combats are interesting to the players vs dragging. I do remember it, but what I've been trying to do is update the Anvuss/Kharas side of HoA after I've updated pretty much everything else. The reason is that you guys have a major time spike ahead of Aethelus, so I figure that way we can have a more gradual catch-up between the two rather than another sudden halt. The time spike happened because I decided to push forward with Kharas so Anvuss could play sooner, and Velmont posted so quickly that he advanced much more quickly vis-a-vis Aethelus than I had expected ;))

Ironwolf will use his Psionic Weapon feat on an attacking afflicted at the first opportunity.

ooc: So I should be asking E13 to post like mad if I want the combat to progress? OK, Erekose! Go postal! :)

Eternity will do her best to keep an eye out for both appraoches into the chamber and feral afflicted attacking the others. When she sees one going for Michael, she will move towards it with a javelin ready should things need her attention.

(ooc: re HoA, will try. burning out quickly with 4 games to run now)

This is my fault, I was distracted last night.

Michael takes a moment to explain to the cantankerous unafflicted that he is big, he is strong, he has a big rock club, and he is the alpha male.

To the uninitiated, of course, this sounds like "RAAAHR RAHHH RAWHH! RAAARGGH!" accompanied by vigorous waving of the club.

I have no idea if Michael gets a bonus on his Intimidate check or not: it seems inappropriate to give him a penalty to intimidate because he's brutish or barbaric.
Please let me know what to roll, or make the roll as you see fit.

*Michael's intimidating shout causes the semi-afflicted attacking Ironwolf to be shaken, causing it to miss its attack. Ironwolf slashes through the hapless villager with ease thanks to his psionic focus and cuts through to another.*

(OOC: Hulgyr's turn)

ooc: how many of those semi-feral villagers are left?
Hulgyr will attack any of the semi-feral villagers that attempt to attack him or his allies.

(OOC: Two in this cage that went on an offensive against Ironwolf, though they haven't had turns yet)

*Hulgyr moves forward and cleaves the remaining villagers with his axe, and the cages are still at the rapid slaughter.*

*Ironwolf breaks open the last cells and destroys their crystals as well. Many of the villagers growl or make strange noises, but none dares assault after what happened to the last group.*

*Meanwhile, with all the time this took, Eternity thinks she espies a group of Afflicted returning through the forward passage.*

"Damn it! That is the way we want to go, too. The one that escaped must have brought reinforcements. But we don't have the energy to waste using our powers on this. We will leave it to the melee fighters."

Eternity relays the warning to the others who are otherwise engaged. "We've got trouble coming." She then readies herself with a javelin to toss at the first one that gets close enough (preferring large ones if necessary). "I'll avoid using powers for now. Can you keep watch on the Afflicted that have been released? I wouldnt want them to get any ideas if they are still feral." she says to Zaeryl.

"Oh, they're going to get ideas. Not much we can do about it now. Looks like the quick killing was the only reason some of them haven't attacked yet. You can bet they'll take advantage of the ensuing chaos."
