Gate Pass Gazette Aspects of divinity in issue 33 was amazing, I’d love to see a similar approach to the warlocks Eldritch Blast feature.

i haven't seen issue 33 so i don't really have any context when i ask - doesn't eldritch blast already have alternatives? or are the alternatives to turn undead in issue 33 even more divergent then that?

i should add, i was excited to see it as turn undead can feel like a waste within a classes power budget on alot of builds, i often feel this way about eldritch blast and warlocks.

Generally depends on the campaign for Clerics but I certainly agree in regards to Warlocks. And while thoroughly enjoy the changes that were done to EB, I feel it made having any other offensive cantrip cast by Warlocks to be utterly redundant. Or pigeonholing them into being some form of blaster.

I imagine alternatives to EB would provide more spells known (like more cantrips or actually knowing your patron spells), more spell points, enhanced capabilities with pact boons, or better capabilities with curses.

Edit: or gaining more invocations

A suggested Eldritch Invocation and Eldritch Evolution to enhance Eldritch Whip:

Enhanced Whip, prerequisite Eldritch Whip:
  • The temporary hit points gained from Eldritch Whip last indefinitely, rather than only until the end of your next turn.
  • If you have Pact of the Chain, you can deliver the Eldritch Whip attack through your familiar, and your familiar can gain the temporary hit points instead of you, if you so wish.
    • These temporary hit points last indefinitely too, and can be used to power Eldritch Whip when delivered through your familiar.
  • If you have Pact of the Blade, and are using a pact weapon with reach, the weapon's bonus to attack or damage rolls, or bonus damage, applies to your Eldritch Whip.
  • If you have Pact of the Tome, you can deliver range touch spells through your Eldritch Whip to range 15'.
    • This doesn't allow you to both attack with Eldritch Whip and use it to deliver the spell, unless you have an additional action to do so, such as from the Haste spell.

An alternative to Eldritch Blast:

Focused Pact Weapon, prerequisite: you must take Pact of the Blade at level 3:
  • You lose access to the Eldritch Blast that you gained at 1st level. You may still subsequently get it by selecting Versatile Blast with an Eldritch Invocation or Evolution.
  • Your pact weapon can be used as an arcane focus for your Warlock spells and cantrips.
  • Your pact weapon counts as a magic weapon, and gains a +1 bonus to its attack and damage rolls, unless it already has a bonus to those rolls.
  • At level 11, if you have Thirsting Blade, it gives you two extra attacks with your attack action, instead of only one extra attack.
