Attacked on introduction?

So Good to see so many responces so fast! Honestly, I just joined this group because half of my current primary group is moving away in a few weeks, so I'm scouting around for new players / groups so we don't end up with the dreaded "Seperated group syndrome" where everything falls apart because of too few players.

So I've gotten no responce from my E-mail to the GM, but there is one detail I left out...

While the problem player was trying to justify what he had done to the DM, I casually ask

"Since I just solo'd him, do I get quad xp?"

He started laughing, but then said "not now man".

Yeah, plot device.

-It has Arcane runes only he can see (that he can't read) written on it.
-If seperated from him, it poofs back into his hands.
-anyone who tries to take it has to make a fortitude save or get shocked (zap!)
-Anyone who tries to damage it has to make a fortitude save or get shocked. (zapity)

You would abandon a group just because a pc wizard attacked you? Even though the PC wizard didn't have a chance and the GM was clearly on your side?

What would you do if the PC wizard killed you and stole all your stuff?

I remember back in the good ole days of 1e when PCs that joined a party had a reasonable chance of being killed in a case of mistaken identity or friendly fire and all your stuff going to the person who slew you.

In all seriousness, if a player is out of control one day, he is likely to be out of control on other days, so you either put up with poor behavior or find another adventuring group, or be the person who sets up the gaming date and don't invite the person with poor behavior.

Either that or he is talking about his character sheet... :p

Some of you guys are pretty kind hearted. I'd like to be as well but if some player has their character attack mine, I'd forget the dice and attack the player - verbally of course. ;)

Verbal attacks are useless. Either don't react to a provocation or kill the provoker. Anything less is a slipshod and half-baked approach.

You could always try taking him under your wing...

"Forsooth, good wizard, thine temper and willingness to believe in the strange, even though thou art a spell caster, one who regularly indulges in the strange, indeed, even slaves it to your will, are sorely lacking. Doest thou know how I beat you, or understand how your strategy was flawed? Come, sit with me, and I shall show you the gift of the Gods. Strategy."

Or some crap.

Yeah, I guess you're right. The thing is that even though you get 3 square meals and modern rec facilities I don't think I'm ready to take the plunge and live a bit of prison life. You can say, and I do agree, that it's healthy to get out of the comfort zone, but I think I need to purge my life first of all that I think is important. That's the mental block you see.

Leave, the group kept vouching for what a great kid he was.

There will be no upside to this campaign.

Seriously, do yourself a favor and never go back.

priceless. I have to show him the fine art of staying in-character while i'm at it.

Y'know, reading through this thread has given me insight. I think i will go back to that party, and I will play with them. The GM needs another good roleplayer in his group.

I just left one group because the GM was a twit, but i think i'll stay in this campaign. the GM has a good head on his shoulders, and is trying to make the game fun. I'm just sorry most of our game time was taken up by a poorly-concieved player.
