Attacks of Opportunity

Do you inform player's when they may make AoOs?

Example: The fighter is fighting two orcs that are side by side, one of the orcs moves to take a flanking position. Do you tell the fighter he is allowed an attack of opportunity, or do you assume if he misses the chance then his character does as well?

I always let the players know when they have an opportunity. In return, they are appreciative enough to (usually) remind me when I have overlooked something to my advantage as well. ;)

Since I'm the GM I'm the judge of AoOs, so I tell them, of course. I do allow players to make 'suggestions' of course, esp for my monsters. :)

I have the orcs delay to their slowest initiative and then they both diagonally 5' step to flank the doomed fighter and then unleash power attacking death. :)

Tell the player, always.

As a DM, I always try to tell the players when they get AoOs. Otherwise, I'd have to deal with the "I get an AoO because he moved out of my square.../ no you don't he has Spring Attack" every time an unexpected ability came up. I still get questions that I explain "not when he has Improved Bull Rush..." or "This guy must have some kind of special ability that removes the AoO" when players know they would usually be entitled to an AoO but I don't give them one. However, the level of trust it builds up means that it happens less than it otherwise would and players will often assume that I know what I'm doing if I have a fighter type trip without provoking an AoO, for instance.
