Attempt at a new Fighter Feature

Defenders Prowess
You have a keen ability to get yourself between your allies and those who want to harm them.

Encounter * Martial
Immediate Interrupt Melee 1
Trigger: An attack on an adjacent ally. You must declare you are using this power before the attack roll is made.
Effect: You slide the ally one square and you shift to occupy the allies square. You are now the subject of the attack.

So is this too powerful, not powerful enough, not useful? It was just a thought rumaging around in my head like a drunk kobold.

I am looking for something that epitomizes the classic maneuver of the one ally getting in front of the other at the last moment to ward off an incoming attack.

Which fighter feature would this be replacing? I assume Combat Superiority/Combat Agility. Also, if you're worried about it being too powerful, perhaps the enemy making the attack should be marked in order for the ability to function.

Yeah, it would take the place of Combat Superiority/Agility. I am not sure if the fighter feature is too powerful but having to have the enemy be marked might be a good way to tone it down. It could also be moved from an At-Will to an Encounter.

Ah, yes ... Martyr's Blessing Paladin Utility 2. Hmm, that is considered a Daily Power. Close Burst 1.

This makes me think that what I was thinking with Defenders Prowess might be too powerful.

Martyr's Blessing just transfers the damage to the Paladin and it's a daily power.

Defenders Prowess moves the fighter and an ally, makes the fighter the target of the attack and at least initially I made it an At-Will.

The fighter in most cases is probably harder to hit than his ally. So comparitively Defenders Prowess is much better than Martyr's Blessing. Hmm...

I would be very reluctant to give what is, almost verbatim, a paragon level daily utility power, as an at-will class feature.

Making it only work on marked creatures is not an issue seeing as you're a fighter and mark everything anyways.

I do like the idea of a fighter getting a non-damaging reaction, however.

I'll get back to you with some idea I'm cooking here.

Eh. A 1st level fighter with Shield Push can invalidate a marked creature's attack against an ally entirely. They do have to hit first, though.

No, Shield Push, a fighter feat that lets you push the target of your Combat Challenge (which is an interrupt, and thus means if you hit you invalidate the attack of a target without reach, or even a target with reach once you add on push enhancements).
