I have no control over when it is published -- Eden won't set a date "until it's ready", and that, in turn, is going to depend on playtesting, feedback, and so on. I certainly hope it moves along quickly, but I am just a writer, NOT an Eden employee, so I have neither control not information on the publishing schedule. We want to make sure the system works, and is scaleable, and is fun.

Once Lizard is 100% done and playtesting is 100% done... we will begin layout and art and it will only be a matter of a few months at that point.

Due to our shedule for the spring and summer - I see this coming out in the fall.

Now granted - that could change... but we dont want to promise anything until we have the FINAL draft in hand.

BTW- Lizard (and the other freelancers) is doing an awesome job finishing this project.

Personally, I'd shoot for Fall or Winter, just in case you wish to make this product seamlessly and fully compatible with 3e Revised.

Gawd knows they need to revise their Leadership feat anyway.

I agree. I've been jonesin' for this book for a long time, but if they take care to do it RIGHT I'll be more than happy to wait a teeny bit more.

By fall/winter, people will have seen The Two Towers on DVD several times or even Return of the King in the theater. Needless to say, they'll be RAVENOUS for this type of book.

Well well... I've been waiting a year for this. But I got impatient an got a hold of AEG's "WAR". I am disappointed. I mean, it has got about 80% flavor text. Don't get me wrong. It's damn good flavor text, but the book is rules light.

I mean I wanted to know how to storm and castle and run a war and the rules to do so. I am still thinking your product is far superior? Have you seen AEG's product? Can you comment on a comparison?

Sure, WAR has got a bunch of PrCs and Feats and Spells, but it has almost zero in the way of implementing new rules for big battles or kingdoms... ::sigh:: Oh well.

Good luck with Field of Blood, it looks to be an awesome piece of work. :)

Run Kingdom? Yes.

Storm Castle? Yes.

Gather resources from Kingdom to build castle, raise army to defend it, and launch a pre-emptive strike on your enemy? Yes.
Flavor text? Well, some. I like a little mood text to set the scene, but never more than a paragraph or two out of a large section. This book is very much crunch, and mostly focuses on the kingdom/battlefield scale. The section on prestige classes, skills, and feats, while offering a lot of useful options, is wholly centered around the battlefield/kingdom rules...that is, all the skills/feats/PrCs tie into those mechanics primarily.

The 'wargame engine' is modular; that is, you can use it to run battles without using the Realm Management rules.

Hey Lizard,

I'll try again (I understand if it is a secret) Are the rules for mass combat miniature rules (Like Battlesystem) or more abstract where you wont need a table to simulate it (Like in GURPS)?

Akin to Battlesystem, except that we are generally assuming counters rather than miniatures, for a variety of reasons which will make sense when you read the rules.

Movement, unit formations, terrain, obstacles, and so on, are very important in the rules, so an abstract system wouldn't cut it.
