More information

This world is a world whose sun was eclipsed long ago. It is a world rich in history, yet many of its current inhabitants are ignorant to it. There are 5 continents to choose from. If accepted into the open play testing you will be given the opening chapter and the chapter detailing the continent you are playing on.

I think you may have a lot of work ahead to provide five continents of playable setting. So far I see an origin myth and some nice art. Do you have any preview material you could share that would help to set a campaign - a series of game scenarios for players in the present day?

The reason the whole setting will not be made available until publication is to protect copyrights. Silver Crescent does not have the bank of lawyers behind them that, say Piazo or Wizards of the Coast does. As a result extra care is being taken to prevent the theft of intellectual property. As far as the continents, all 5 continents are already written and have been edited once. At his point we are trying to ensure an adequate amount of information is given for players and game masters alike to work with without restricting creativity with too much information. New monsters may be given if they are commonly found on the continent selected. New Domains and spells may be given based on the groups dependency on magic. New deities will almost universally be included and new prestige classes will be previewed on the website.

The website (Realms of Twilight) is a work in progress at the moment. For those desiring more information about the world here it is:

There is no visible sun. It was eclipsed centuries ago by a fey race attempting to cleanse the world of the plague that had infested it, namely the common player race and other humanoids. Centuries have passed since that fateful day and other events have occurred that have shaped the world's history. The Gate Wars were fought over the control of the numerous planar portals that were once common throughout the world. Demons, devils and upper planar beings fought with mortals caught in the middle. Only the Twilight Dragon saved mortal-kind, but in the resulting rage he tore the world asunder.

Now civilization is regaining a foothold in various places int he world. The light of the three moons shines down illuminating the land. There is a theocracy of law that upholds the powers of necromancy. A nation whose beliefs include lycanthropes being holy creatures. Ancient ruins are scattered throughout the world with untold treasures and dangers left behind by the civilizations of the past. New character races like the Valshari elves and twilight gnomes populate the world alongside more standard races. Legends abound (and are in fact introductions to each chapter in the book).

Is this an acceptable introduction or do you have more specific questions regarding the world?

Starglim,
What sort of material would you like to see? Obviously you are interested in scenarios and I will do what I can to accommodate that. Is there anything else?

A scenario would be a very good start, certainly, along with the sort of information in your fourth paragraph: what the land looks like, what sorts of settlements, realms and authorities exist, what kinds of characters inhabit the place, what they believe, seek and strive for, what dangers threaten them. Mainly I'd like to see content that allows DMs to run campaigns and players to play in them.

For example, it sounds as if it would be easy to play different sorts of clerics, or perhaps a gnome. Maybe the setting provides options to play a lycanthrope or an undead. Your images show trees hung with glowing growths and a character with a shining ankh-crozier sort of thing - what can those tell me about what's important in the setting? I don't know what a Valshari elf is, so that doesn't help me. I doubt there are many settings that lack for ancient ruins with untold treasures and dangers.

This is an entire world. There are several pantheons of gods for clerics to choose from. The setting allows for play as anything. Lycanthropes and undead may have a particular role in one nation or another but there are many nations, thus the need for an entire 200 page book to describe them all. As far as character classes for lycanthropes, there is already a dragon magazine with monster classes for them. The same is true of Libris Mortis for undead, though I plan to build on both. A new mosnter class will be available on the website for a were-panther. As far as the image on the main page, that is a place known as the Twilight Wood on the continent of Slarinka. It is a place that draws energy from the elemental plane of water. This energy causes the fruit on the trees to glow with a soft light, thus the name. It is also the home of the Twilight gnomes, named for thier homeland. These gnomes have been feeding off of the fruit and drinking the water for generations, inheriting some of the elemental magic.
Valshari elves are elves decended from Drow. They are not chaotic by nature having been long seperated from the drow goddess and her priestesses.

Everything in the world has a story behind it. It is up to the player (or GM) to determine whether that history is utilized or not.

As far as the content for DMs to run compaigns and players to play them, that is what the open play testing is all about. A simple form to be filled out detailing the group and their preferences so I know what continent to give the group.

If you're worried about your IP, why not get some NDAs for playtesters to sign?
