Attention WotC: Drop the must-sign-in thing until it works, please.

I haven't had any problem either, but I setup my login during the first couple of days.

Email their support people and point out the threads where people are having issues. At least that way WotC (maybe not the right people at WotC - but someone there) knows that the issue exists.

I'm with the Gnome. It's annoying, but bordering on frustration when I really want to read something (like Wyatt's Dungeon article this morning). I imagine a whole new crop of 'quirks' jumped in with the Gleemax cutover, which is par for the course with complex updates.

All things considered, I'm glad they're working out the kinks now, instead of when we're paying for the content. THEN'S when we will hear ten thousand kinds of ill will spurting all over teh webz if similar occurs. Just think of this as a beta (or Alpha, as the Gleemax page labels itself).

Except this doesn't work for everyone. Please don't assume your experience is the way it works for everyone else, and that people having problems can't figure it out.

Stop being so frickin' rude! He was trying to help. Heaven forbid someone on this interweb thing actually try to be nice.

I also have problems getting in. If only more people who have easy access would post more frequent and detailed reports of the articles, it would be less annoying-- though I would NEVER ask that they cut and paste them elsewhere.

My account migrated with only a little trouble, but it was annoying the first time I had to mess with it, because for some reason my password worked, then DIDN'T work, then worked again. :) Can't explain it, but I had to log out and back in twice.

Other than that, it's been good ever since. I'll find out in two weeks if it sticks.

Oh, and ladies and gents? Let's cut back on the hostility a bit. If someone isn't playing by the rules, report 'em with the "report a post" and let us sort it out, and then don't worry about it.

I'm having trouble here too. I couldn't log in this morning, and this isn't the first time its happened either.

Honestly, it's things like this that make me very leery of the DDI generally. WotC just does not do software or web design well. The main Wizards site has been abominable of years (from a general web-design and usability point of view), compared to any other I use even semi-regularly. EN World is way more reliable and better organized than they are, and on 1/10th the budget (or less), I'm sure. And let's not even discuss E-Tools.

They said they've learned from their mistakes, but honestly, I'm not seeing it.

EDIT: I eventually got it to work, but even that process was annoying. They made me click on a dozen things and go through five different pages when I should have taken a lot less. Lousy technology, very bad design.

On that note, is it okay legal to copypaste an article from WoTC to these boards?

In general, no. Certainly not an entire article. We have generally allowed excerpts for purposes of starting discussion, but they have copyright, and posting the full text here would not be Fair Use.

It took me forever to remember which spambait email account I used to register. After that, no big deal.

The big question is: Why on earth do some people use email address as the log in? That's what a user name is for. That crap just really fries me.

+1 for Broken.

According to Gleemax.com, my my account ported correctly and I can sign-in there to view the boards. However, when I try to sign-in on Wizards.com to read Dragon articles it's totally bustified (even though it worked just fine before they changed their sign-in setup...)
