Attitudes towards Kobold PC's - in the Fantasy World

Okay regardless of what people think of playing a race from the MM.

How should the races and populace in a campaign treat a Kobold PC.

One of our players seems to think everyone will be ill disposed towards him as Kobolds are supposedly evil ?

But that never stopped Dark Elves and Half Orcs from being PC's in the past.

I dont mind a little bit of agro and you can always have a long robe (very long) and pull your hood down over your face - when in town or in regions where it could be a problem.

The criticism being "You havent really thought it out very well".

So I am wondering if that is the case or not.

Well, IMHO, in regard to such fluffs, we cannot talk "How it should be". It is a matter of taste, indeed.

Your play group would better discuss about this and decide how your play group want to treat this issue.

If you make a race to be "considered to be evil by most of the people", then it will give you an opportunity to play a kind of dark hero, or somewhat comical mischief (like Deekin from Neverwinter Nights computer game).

Maybe people in your world is more open to "monster" races and judge individuals by their deeds own, or very suspicious to foreigners anyway and races of foreigners do not matter anyway.

Maybe something in between,.

Or maybe your play group can make up something more imaginative.
