Monster Junkie
BOZ - I've recently acquired a bunch of old Dungeon magazines. Would you be interested in starting a conversion thread? I remember you said that you didn't have access to many Dungeon mags. However, I can type up the original stats, and you can run it like all the others.

This is assuming, of course, that you can still access these boards. :(

I've got around 20 or so of the early issues. I'd just post 'em one at a time, like your Dragon conversion thread. Once you declared one finished, I'd type up the old stats for the next one. Basically, just like the other threads, except I'd contribute the original stats.

tell you what, get a list together of what you have and what each one is, and we'll go from there. make use of the dungeon magazine index to make it easier.

Whew! It took awhile, but here's that list. Some of these critters are incredibly cool (particularly the draknor and "demon").

Tyrannabyss (#2): Tentacled, amphibious beast with a paralytic barbed stinger and armor-rending bite.

Epadrazzil (#2): Scaled apelike creature that is bound to a painting to guard a room.

Ilsidahur (#10): Demon lord of bar-lguras, apelike with ram's horns and a pink hairless tail.

Spottle Toad (#12): Toadlike creature bred for the game of spottle.

Aboleth, Saltwater (#12): Larger, more intelligent aboleth with additional
spell-like abilities.

Hivebrood (#13): Large parasitic insect creatures that infect, control, and eventually destroy their host. They speak via music. Hivebrood come in five varieties.

MacDaer (#13): Unique major cambion.

"Demon" (#14): Not actually a demon; extraplanar creature with very powerful spell-like abilities, poisonous saliva, acidic sweat, regeneration, numerous immunities, and great spell resistance.

Havenmere Sheep (#14): Bad-tempred sheep with butt attacks that climb as well as mountain goats.

Conjurer Puppet (#14): Magical creation that attacks by throwing its hat, which has random effects, or firing a wand.

Stun Puppet (#14): Magical creation with stunning strikes.

Ventriloquist Puppet (#14): Magical creation with spell-like abilities and drumming ability that causes confusion.

Black Golem (#14): Golem with ties to Negative Energy Plane, with gems of true seeing as eyes. Abilities include energy drain, slow aura, true seeing.

Black Golem, Greater (#14): As black golem, but also can create juju zombies and other undead, has charm person gaze, and can command undead in service to its creator.

Wood Golem (#14): This version of the wood golem has round disks for hands, designed to press cheese. Is clumsy and vulnerable to fire.

Blue Mold (#15): Similar to yellow mold, but not vulnerable to sunlight. It thrives in moist, salty environments like sea caves.

Gakarak (#15): Black-barked, treantlike being that wields a huge club which causes entanglement. It can fire wooden darts from its hands and can teleport.

Sacrol (#15): Undead floating skull surrounded by misty tentacles which cause level drain and chokes victims.

Grey Philosopher (#15): Cowled undead formed from a chaotic cleric, it has no physical attacks but controls malices.

Malice (#15): Hateful, small wisps of smoke whose claws deal different damage based upon the alignment of their target. These are the projections of the grey philosopher's thoughts.

Possession (#15): Undead spirit that inhabits objects and controls them.

Hzu Tzu (#15): Greater nature spirit that inhabits rivers, appears as giant black carp. He can shapechange into reptilian gargantua, has spells and spell-like abilities, and nereid concubines.

Snake, Giant Fanged Python (#15): 40- to 50-foot snake with venomous fangs and constrict attack.

Wani (#18): Gargantuan crocodiles that are immune to spells that effect animals.

House Hunter (#19): Relatives of mimics that appear as stone, wood, or thatch buildings!

Spirit Leopard (#22): Denizen of alternate Material Plane, looks like a leopard larger than a cave bear. Has stunning roar, sees invisibile creatures, level drain, and spell-like abilities.

Eqqus (#22): A magical piece of jewelry that polymorphs into a beast of burden or another creature, from a limited list.

Tuyewera (#22): Undead humanoid with legs severed at the knees. It spreads disease and can steal a victim's breath, and it is immune to all weapon attacks.

Ahmoras (#22): Black dragon spirit trapped in a mechanical monstrosity created by gnomes. Unique.

Death-From-Above (#24): Rubber-matlike creature that drops on victims and suffocates them.

Draknor (#24): 55 ft. wide, 40 ft. long, 25 ft. high monstrosity. It attacks with 2 claws and dorsal tentacles. Can constrict and swallow whole, can send a burrowing tentacle to attack at range, has a heat ray, regeneration, and a host of immunities and resistances. Illithids fear it...need I say more?

Ancient Vrock (#25): More powerful race of vrocks, precursors to the current variety. They possess greater spell-like abilities.

Mooncreature (#25): Essentially, a template that is applied to the offspring of creatures that have partaken of a moonmelon. Has numerous changes and mutations. Moonorcs are the sample creatures used in the adventure.

Shimmering Wrath (#26): Has ties to both Negative Energy Plane and Quasi-Elemental Plane of Lightning. Has electrical touch attack, and those attacking it with metal take same damage. Its shadows deal cold damage.

these sound familiar for some reason...
I thought so, too, but I haven't located them on any of my lists. When I see "Tyrannabyss", I always think of an abyssal tryannosaurus, but then I realize its actually a devil called the garghatula. ;)

[As an aside, I did the fancy new emoticons. :D ]

and these three were in the MC Annual #1. we could start with them. :) pick one, and i'll set up a thread...
Let's start with the simplest one...Shimmering Wrath. At least it seems to be the simplest one.
