AU Unfettered vs. AEG Swashbuckler -- compare and contrast please!

OK, the Unfettered has recieved a lot of attention, and justifiably, I think, as I own AU and I think the class nicely fits a glaring hole in the d20 core class lineup.

However, although I never picked it up, I recall the book Swashbuckling Adventures by AEG included a class called the Swashbuckler that would putatively fill the same role. For whatever reason, I haven't heard a lot about this class, though. Can anyone describe it to me, and for anyone who's got access to both classes, can anyone compare and contrast?

The swashbucker in SA isn't balanced with the core classes. SA is set in a low-magic world so the feats available to the swashbuckler is more powerful than regular feats. It's a great class - in Théa.

The Unfettered cannot fill any D20 hole in my opinion. That became impossible when it was stated that AU classes have powercreep and are more powerful than the standard D20 classes.

Have you actually read the Unfettered class?

I assume you haven't read the Unfettered class then. I think it, of all the AU classes, fits into other d20 games the easiest.

No I have not. I do remember Monte once being quoted as saying that the AU classes were on average about 10% more powerful than equivalent DnD classes. This came up when I commented that AU was not 100% D20 compatible and was told that it had never been implied that it would be.

For that matter, who stated there was power creep? I certainly haven't seen it in the classes. Even a casual glance at the Unfettered would show it isn't overpowered relative to the core classes, and I don't believe the others are either.

Also, please don't hijack my thread to throw in gratuitous griping about AU; I'd really like to see the two classes compared.

DocM has long had a bug up his rear about anything put out by Cook.
Then DocM can please not respond to my thread! I don't want it junked up by someone who has nothing to add other than he wants to piss on my party, if you please.

1. Monte Cook himself said his base classes were more powerful than standard D20 classes.

2. Why not consider the Swashbuckler class out of the Complete Warrior.
