August 2006 Releases

I haven't heard many people complain about the portrayal in Al-Qadim.

I think a larger barrier would be the similarity between the names Al-Qadim and Al-Qaeda.
Wouldn't that be complaining about how something like "The Base" sounds similiar to "The Bus"...

I, personally, would like to see them heavily modify the Al-Qadim setting materials and rerelease them as something for D20 Modern. You want to talk about some free press for WOTC? :D

Since when has the type of person who would bother to complain about a title without looking at the content been the type of person who would notice that?

More the latter than the former. ;)

As for your smiley(?), what's with the hate? :\
I suffer from Ranger REG Old-School Opinion Fatigue. ;) It's a companion to my Nightfall Pimping Scarred Lands Fatigue.

Well, moving on . . .

We know what Tome of Battle: The Book of Nine Swords will be: a supplement covering nine distinct martial disciplines that can be adopted by characters. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Wizards of the Coast produces with this; it strikes me that the only comparable products for beefing up regular combat are Mike Mearls' Book of Iron Might and Iron Heroes.

It's nice to see that Wizards of the Coast is trying to expand the game in more ways than by just adding a new magic system - as much as I do like the Expanded Psionics Handbook and Magic of Incarnum.

Conversely, it doesn't seem like Dragons of Faerun will involve the Wyrms of the North articles much, given that neither Ed Greenwood nor Sean Reynolds are listed as authors.

It's tied in with the Year of the Dragon theme - along with Races of the Dragon, the Gargantuan and Colossal dragon miniatures, Fantastic Locations: Dragonsdown Grotto, and the War of the Dragon Queen Huge miniatures set.

I wonder what else will partake of this theme in the September-December release bracket? Perhaps the oft-requested supplement on Eberron's dragonmarked houses? Considering that we've had three Forgotten Realms supplements confirmed - Power of Faerun, Mysteries of the Moonsea, and Dragons of Faerun - and only two Eberron products - Player's Guide to Eberron and Secrets of Xen'drik - it seems to me like there's a good chance we'll see it towards the end of 2006, unless Eberron just isn't receiving a parity of support.

Eberron also has no tie-ins yet announced to the Year of the Dragon theme; assuming it will have one, the only choices for topics I can see are the dragonmarked houses or the continent of Argonessen where the dragons actually live.

An Eberron tie-in to the theme (or, admittedly, any generic tie-in) would make for a nice neat half-dozen themed books.
