[August] What are people playing?

You have an ampersand, cool! What's it made of and how'd you lose it?

I got it from I.C.E., so it's made of Aether. Pretty nice and makes a big BOOM when thrown at enemies.

Best of all it turns my ADD into AD&D....*sigh*....I miss it so.

I've been skeptical about the longevity of DDO for a while now but I have to say, Turbine is adding some really cool stuff and with more frequency. Module 2 was released about a month ago and there is another substantial patch today. They are also fixing a lot of bugs and making some needed changes.

Have they added any of: druids, shifter, psionics, or monks?

This Month

I play different games at different times... Not sure if I have played Oblivion this month, but I probably will before the end (70 hours? I've got more than 200+, addictive). I've been playing a little WarCraft III, because now I can at least see the campaign in its full visual glory (dated, but now its at least smooth). I play through Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, just one or two chapters at a time (I suffer from perfectionism, so I have yet to make it through the game... my first attempt I quit after killing the dead guy.) What I have been playing the most is Need For Speed: Most Wanted, which I got from my younger cousin for $25 + S&H, because she and her younger sister weren't any good at evading the cops, so they weren't enjoying it. I believe it was new before they got it. (I have this hang up these days on not wanting to put used games in my machines. The only exceptions are ones used by me, and ones from relatives bought new... so far, this is the only game I've bought from them, though someday I hope they give up their GameCube so I can buy Need For Speed: Underground, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion and Mickey's Soccer Strikers or whatever its called, which I didn't find to be a horrible game.)

Not yet. I've heard that druids won't be happening anytime soon. The dev's has said they would require massive amounts of animation and balancing to be implemented properly. Makes sense. I think monks are in the works but again, they require a lot of new animations. Haven't heard anything about psionics.

There is a big update coming this fall (Oct-Nov time frame) that will increase the level cap and possible add a new class or race.

Pirates! (Finally picked this up. Don't know what took so long, I played the original to death)
Civ IV + Warlords (nice expansion)
Eastside Hockey Manager 2005 (Got my Habs into the 3rd season, still haven't gotten past the 1st round of the playoffs though)

Took a break from Oblivion and FarCry.

I think I need a break from WoW. Any good RPG's out there? I'm not too interested in Oblivion.

You should give Darkness over Daggerford, for NWN, a try.

DoD broke all the records on its release last week. Fastest download count in opening 3 days, largest SP mod, fastest module to ever qualify for the the Hall of Fame, etc..

We did the vast majority of the artwork for BioWare that Ossian Studios licensed for use in DoD. The module (and the lizard huts!), however, are all theirs.

The artwork includes a preview release of Tir Na n'Og, our magnum opus tileset. NWN simply never looked this good before. Here's a sneak peak :

DoD is in the same vein as Baldur's Gate 2. Reviews for it are very positive, though it does seem to have quite a few bugs in the sub-quests off of the critical path. (Beta-testing a 30 hour module is a beast.)

(Ahem: You might also look into grabbing copy of Wyvern Crown of Cormyr when it is released at the end of the month. I'd say it promises to be even better than DoD, but then again - I'm biased as all hell. (Psst: It is, too!)

All-in-all, it's a great month for 3rd edition D&D CRPGs.

Thanks for the tip! I actually started playing Pirates of the Sword Coast again, I got bored with it and quit a few months back. I'm going to finish this one and then give your module a try. Looks very nice indeed!

To be clear, Darkness over Daggerford is not DLA's. We did the vast majority of the art for it - but the module is all Ossian's.

DLA did create Wyvern Crown of Cormyr another module, with even more custom art, - and rideable horses - which should be out by the end of the month or thereabouts~.

As usual (;)) I'm playing Football Manager 2006 (I think it's called World Soccer Manager 2006 in the US). Sometimes play a bit of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down online, and I started (and completed) Gun on the PS2 at the beginning of the month - that's a very good game, although the last mission is a bit of a pain.
