Great Date,
I will be back in Temple by then so I will definitely come down for the game day. I am looking forwards to meeting some of the people from Temple. Put me dwon for the D20 Traveller game in the afternoon. I have been waiting to give the new version of Traveller a shot.

Good point :) Pun intended

Standard rolls? Point buy?

Point buy. 24 Points total. No stat above 20, no stat below 8.

Att Points = Buy Points
8 = -2
9 = -1
10 = 0
11 = 1
12 = 2
13 = 3
14 = 4
15 = 6
16 = 8
17 = 11
18 = 14
19 = 18
20 = 22

This excludes the FREE "attribute point" at 4th level, so don't cheat yourself out of that one by leaving it off. The buy points are for 1st level characters. You have normal progressions after that according to the 3.5 core rules.

I would be willing to run something, given the amount of lead time you've given here. I will run whichever of the following has the most interest: 7th Sea, D&D3, Earthdawn, Feng Shui, Over the Edge, TORG. (I can also take requests if someone wants something more exotic, like TRoS, TFOS, Theatrix... but it's unlikely there will be enough demand for one of those.)

In general, I will provide pre-gen characters. I prefer basic familiarity, but will teach as needed. 7 players is probably my upper limit, and 5-6 works better.

Someone say TFOS?

TFOS is my vote, and so is running it in the first slot since I'm running a DnD3.5 in the second slot.

This may seem a stupid question, but I've seen DMS handle this both ways...

Do the costs above take racial modifiers into account? My understanding of the Point Buy rules is that they don't--you use the above points to create your base scores, and then add/subtract racial mods as appropriate.

OTOH, I noticed you included costs up to 20, so I thought maybe you were including racial mods in the above costs. Doing that sort of makes non-humans pay extra for what's supposed to be a racial ability, but if that's how you want to do it, well... I'd prefer otherwise, but I'm not going to start arguing with the DM two months before the game. ;)

Ari,
Does this mean I can safely enter you as the first player in d20 book's game? :)

First and probably second. I haven't been ale to send him a character concept for my wife yet--she won't have time to come up with one until after work this evening--but I know she's interested.

The point buy system is for BASE attributes before racial adjustments. That is why there is an 8-20 buy range limit. While people can technically get to an Attribute level of 23 at 6th level, no one can go below 6.

Again, good questions.

For the record, I have three slots filled. Ari and wife, and Garmorn are on the list.
