Austin Games Day-January 24, 2004--Calling all GMs and players

I don't know if it will make any difference to anyone, but for my Traveller game, two of the pregenerated characters will be females. So if any of you female gamers haven't decided yet if you want to play, and you don't like playing male characters, you have nothing to worry about in my game.

Go ahead, sign up. You know you want to. :)

That's no fun. I say, shuffle up the sheets and pass them out :)

Make it a challenge. There's schwag on the line... make it competitive :D

I would be willing to run the following in either slot:

Grim Vacuum
Science Fiction (semi-hard) Horror
Pregen Characters, simple action resolution system, rules light
Up to 6 players

A small band of pirates operating out of the Deniev Belt stumble across a drifting colony ship. First glance seems to indicate the crew died of slow death when their FTL stopped working between stars. Appearances can be deceiving.

The setting is human only, with psychic phenomena known (one of the PCs will be a genegineered psychic who escaped) and FTL "sailing" (in the form of tachyon transmission). The year is 2200, and humans have only recently established serious colonies in other star systems (assumption was that FTL was discovered in 2030). You don't need to know much more about the setting, other than the character sheets I'll hand out.

Sorry I havn't updated the front page in a while. Seasong -- I've got your game up in the afternoon so I can play in it :)
Pyske -- Let me know what you've decided for your morning game.
And there is one more morning game slot for any interested GM's. Otherwise, it will become a open game table.

Happy holidays all, and see you in a month!

Well, shoot, I guess I do need to stop procrastinating and make a decision. Also, you should probably add me to the list of PCs for d20books' game.

Let's go with Feng Shui: it will be the easiest to have people jump right into and learn on the fly. The scenario will be called Ground Rounds, and will accomodate 4 - 8 players. Characters generated on site, but pre-gens available. Summary:

The PCs are action heroes in modern Hong Kong, attempting to prevent havoc during a cultural sensitivity festival. Players should not expect actual cultural sensitivity. Game will be combat intensive -- action movie style.

Here's a teaser:

Open on a meat packing plant shot from a busy street. Slabs of beef hang inside, along with various other animal carcasses. A cattle yard is visible at the right corner, while a sign bearing chinese characters lies in the street. The subtitle reads "Understand People Cultural History Unity Celebration". From inside, shadowy figures administer a beating. Cut: a huge, bovine-looking man chambers a round in a massive pistol, as his two henchmen strike sparks off nearby objects with electric cattle prods. Cut: Asian men walk across an overpass, dressed in ostentatious sombreros and ponchos. A car plays "La Cucaracha" on the horn as it crosses the bridge, leading floats and giant balloons. From off camera left a bull charges onscreen, smashing the car and sending it off the side of the overpass. Naturally, it explodes. People scream and flee, as noise of hooves crescendo. Cut to black. Fade in: corpse of a bull, riddled with gunfire. Zoom on side of bull, where a brand reads "GROUND ROUNDS". Fade to black.

. . . . . . . -- Eric

Pyske - I've got your game up and running (it sounds very cool) Thanks for running a game.

I imagine when the holidays settle down, we will fill up those slots.

Happy holidays all!

Guys, I'm bailing on you. I still might make the gameday, but due to my recent hospitalization and subsequent missing of work, I really may not be able to have the funds for the drive, or even feel up to a gameday. Sorry for the flakeage... good news is if I go, I'll still get to meet many of you, and I can always play Wil's board games!

Harlock, do you want me to keep your name on the D20 traveller game? Or are you pretty certain that you will not be able to play?

Hope you feel better.
