Austin, TX Game Day

I would like to voice my interest in an Austin Game Day. I know my brother and one or two other members of my gaming group will be interested as well.

So far only a dozen+ posters have spoken up about being interested in an Austin Games Day. Maybe DL may fit the bill? I know there were only 2 dozen people at Dallas Games Day from EN world and the rest of the crew were from RGPA.

Does DL have a back room for extra game tables? Or would it just be people strune around the store?
I agree that, unless we're expecting a ton of people, a game store such as DL would be a good option.

I was at DL once when they were doing some sort of miniatures game demo. In addition to the tables in the store, they have an outside area which is covered but open on the sides. Of course, this might not be a good option in the winter.

Just for the record, I asked at my apartment office what it takes to rent the party room.

For a six-hour reservation, they require:

A $75 fee. If there's more than a few of us, this isn't problematic at all.

A $500 deposit. It's a good chunk, but it's all 100% refunded so long as we don't destroy the room. I know we're all wild and crazy party gamers, but I'm guessing we could restrain ourselves. ;)

Now, I know that I'm pretty far out of the way for most people in Austin, and I know people may not want to shell out the bucks for the deposit, even though they'll be getting it back. But since I offered to look into it, I figured I'd report back, just in case it turns out to be our best option.

Ari must be sleeping... bump again. I'm voting no to a lrage deposit. Austin is 3 and a half hours away as is... dropping more cash on a deposit , even if it gets returned, is just not something I'm game for.

3 and a half hours from San Angelo to Austin? When I was going to Angelo State, and we would drive to Austin for concerts, we made it in under 3 hours. Of course, we didn't drive the speed limit, either. ;) I remember some long, straight stretches near San Angelo where I could top out at 120 mph.

Hey, Shadowdancer, how old are you? I went to ASU from 91 -... uhh, off and on sometime around 99 I think. And if you made it in 3, you guys were flowing low under the radar. Especially if you were doing it when the Speed limit was 55 and not 70. Of course, the 3 and a half is a generalization based on leaving my home in San Angelo and going to my parents' house in Round Rock. That was my door to there's, not going south Austin where the cool stuff is. Err, and back to topic...

Who is dead set on running a game and in what system?

Hey, even us vampiric rodents have to sleep sometime. ;)

I fully understand about the deposit. Just figured I'd throw the idea out for consideration; I'm more than happy to have the gathering elsewhere.
