Austin, TX Game Day

I'd prefer this to be the weekend of the 17th, simply because I have classes starting... but I could probably make it on the 24th.

At any rate, sign me up for a player in the Stargate game (HUGE SG fan), ditto any Dragonlance games that may or may not be run (go war of the lance!).

One person needs to really spearhead the deal, otherwise it will just float off into the aether.

He's right, you know. I nominate anyone willing who lives in Austin or a surrounding suburb.

Joe and I are in for the 24th. If I can get access to an oven, I may even bake cookies....

Before we have a happy dance about the date and place, we should probably check with Dragon's Lair and make sure they can entertain us for that date and how early we can show up to game. Usually the first game starts around 9:30 or 10 and I think DL is open by then. Also, game two usually runs until 8:30+.

Once we get an OK from Dragon's Lair, then we can start posting (probably on a new thread to clean out the planning threads) a master list of those who have already spoken up about running games and playing in them. If someone in Austin will call dragon's lair and find out the 4 points below, I'll take care of the other planning, as far as starting the new thread, updating the GM and players lists, bringing name tags and organize swag-giving on the actual game day, etc. The only thing I can't do is take pictures and post them (no digtial camera).

So I beseech someone with an Austin phone number to call and find out
(1)How many tables and chairs they have to accomadate a game day (rough max. person count)
(2)If they are free for ENworld Austin Game Day on January 27th (hey, starting school, no problem... the first week is passing out the syllabus, getting text books, and weeding out all the add/droppers.)
(3) Find out if any fees are associated with having a game day there
(4) book Dragon's Lair (I'm assuming the one in Austin proper off Burnet) if everything checks out-- i.e. they provide adequate chairs and tables and don't charge a fee.

Warning--- Dragon's Lair has its own pets... Last time I remember cats, maybe dogs too, so anyone allergic, anti-histamines are your friend.

I'll speak out against Dragon's Lair if they have cats. It also sounds like they don't have space for 20+ people that will likely show up.

A business with cats....*shakes head*

Nothing like gaming when you're doped up on benedrill.... :D
A game store is the ideal place for a game day venture, but I don't think there's a bigger gamestore than Dragon's Lair in Austin.
No one seemed to know of a community rec center? That worked out well for Dallas Game Day with a minimall price tag. I also heard someone suggest warehouses... but I think we would probably have to supply tables and chairs in that situation.

So Wil... does this mean you are coming to play???

I thought Mystic Eye was going to contact Dragon's Lair.

I will contact Dave at Dragon's Lair and see about holding a EN World Game day there. Perhaps we can get some organized games going if someone would be willing to DM a one off. We can also do some board gaming.

MEG will be glad to have some prizes available. We will see how it goes soon and I will post something here.
