Autographed Edition of Call of Cthulhu d20

At this point, I'm not even that concerned about the money I will probably lose from this fiasco. What I want is what I ordered: an undamaged, signed copy of Call of Cthulhu d20; I don't think they will be able to deliver that.

So, I will call WotC Cust Service and I will most likely be disappointed. Bottom line: at this point as a consumer, I have *zero* faith in the WotC Online Store. I certainly don't have to buy from them, and in the future, I won't; maybe it will save me the effort of having to get "pissy" again.

Wizards certainly can have another book autographed for you, they probably have a few extra's lying about.
I got the signed copy, and it pissed me off to no end about the delay, but it happens. I would say however that you should have contacted Wizards first to find out what they'll do. You're complaining about their customer service before you've even used it.

Also, as regards the book trade in, almost all publishers have such a policy, and they don't eat the cost's most times either. They will simply nag the book binder, whose fault it really is.

So, try Wizards, see if they can help you. If they can't, THEN complain.

Actually, IIRC, Wizards doesn't really have any extra signed Call of Cthulhu. In fact, they mixed up the shipment of their signed copies with their unsigned ones. Many people that ordered signed copies got the unsigned ones instead.

They're accepting returns and replacements for the people that got screwed in that case. Either way, they're all sold.

The mix-up worked the other way.
A bunch of signed copies were sent out as unsigned copies.

This meant a delay when they went to ship the signed ones. AFAIK, everyone that ordered a signed one got one.

The delay was because they had to get the signer's back to sign more books

My order was delayed until the new signed ones were done.

If everything goes clear and they still have extra's, they'll probably have some kind of sale, or just toss them in with the regular shipments.

I wonder how many of the CD's they had though.

Well, I plan on writing an email to WotC Customer Service, as I mentioned before. No matter what happens, I've decided that I will keep my copy of the book. My girlfriend in her superior wisdom has convinced me that a signed but imperfect copy is probably a better thing to have than an unsigned but pristine copy. She's right, of course, and I would otherwise never have an opportunity to get both Monte and John Tynes to sign my book, let along all of the other folks who signed.

I really sincerely doubt that there are any extra signed copies floating around at WotC, but I will send an email and explain the source of my dissatisfaction. Unfortunately, anecdotal evidence seems to indicate that standard procedure for replacing a limited edition promo is to simply offer another unsigned copy.

In the end, I am probably going to pass on the next WotC promo. The promo itself was a great idea, but the execution was pretty poor.

I'm sure most of the folks at WotC are nice people and are good at what they do. However, I really do think WotC needs to address the "moisture problem". I recall that many people who bought FRCS had problems with moisture-damaged pages and covers. My Oriental Adventures book has wavy pages, but my FRCS, Monster Manual, PHB and DMG are fine.

I'm still a bit disappointed, but I'm sure I'll get over it. Thanks to everyone who listened to my rantings.

I know this doesn't mean much, but just in case it's at all helpful I'd be willing to sign a book that you sent to me with an SASE for the return ship. Can't guarantee that nothing bad will happen with the shipping or anything, but just so you know.

Thanks, Monte. I really appreciate the offer. I've decided that I'll just live with some "waves" in the pages of my CoC d20. I'm a little disappointed with the way WotC handled the entire CoC promo, but I'll just address that with them in an email.

I've gained a bit of perspective since I posted last night (in other words, I've become less hysterical). I may have the only signed copy of Call of Cthulhu d20 that comes with "non-euclidean binding".

For the record, both my signed FRCS and WoT books had this, the WoT book more than the FRCS. I vowed never to order from WotC again after that.
