What do we know about the shifter anyway? Will he have a single write-up? One per trait? How many traits?
That avenger class description specifies that razorclaw shifters make good avengers, so at least I will bet that there will be one other type - probably beasthide if it's only one other.

Actually, I think it will be longtooth and razorclaw (both are in the MM).
True!

So now I think there will be at least three, because I would be surprised if they left out beasthide when they have the opportunity to include it.

(The only major shifter character in any Eberron novel series is a beasthide shifter, as it happens, and he is actually one of the lead characters in two series now.)

I heard that it might be using Dexterity and Wisdom

Wisdom is primary, Dex or Int is secondary, depending on how you want it to work. The Dex based class feature punishes the oathed for moving away, the Int based class feature punishes the oathed for non-oathed enemies hitting you.

Me want.

The avenger's censure seems to want to target/face enemies that hit and run/shoot/hide/control aka skrimishers/artillery/lurkers/controllers otherwise known as the "bastards." You can be walking control with those guys entering unbalanced melees or begging allies to not gang up on you.

This info has me really excited about the Avenger. Seems to fit a niche that isn't currently completely satisfied, and has some graet flavor.

The interesting thing to me is that the Avenger starts out with Cloth proficiency, but can upgrade to leather and then hide with feats without impacting abilities. Two feats for +3 AC in heroic tier (and much more AC in epic tier) is pretty sweet.

Human Avenger (2 feats for leather andhide proficiency) with a 20 wisdom:

AC 10 + 5 (Wis) + 3 (class ability) + 3 (hide) = AC 21. Better than Paladin with Heavy Shield.

Subtract 2 from those. You can't add Wis to AC unless I missed a memo. Int or Dex are secondary and if you're starting with 20 WIS, you can't get more than 16 in those.

And you also want to make the prereqs for hide. So even if you are playing with a race that gives you a bonus to Dex and Wis, you'll only have a Wis of 18 if you want to get hide.
