I'm a little bit disapointed by thier choice of avenger-favored gods. I really wish they'd flavored the class as focusing on those more chaotic gods whose clergy you don't really expect to be wearing heavy armor and moving around slowly, like Avandra, Melora, and Corellon.
I pity the Avenger that oathed a minion... and the minion decided to run away because he knows he's been oathed and is scared to hell (makes sense for kobold/goblin minions), leaving the Avenger unable to use his class feature.

It does assume that a minion is able to succesfully run away from a party of adventurers. The Avenger, seems to have quite a few tricks for catching up to the oathed ... and he can always get his allies to use some ranged attacks to slow/stop/slay the oathed if they get outside his range. And it assumes they don't kill the minion the turn they oath them, which is unlikely considering the combination of lower defences on a minion, and the oaths ability.
