Back from Origins!

I was saddened and disappointed not to see you (or any Bastion presence) at the con, but truly look forward to hanging with you at GenCon Indy.

Sounds like it was a blast. Sorry I had to miss it this year. I look forward to seeing both of you two at Gen Con. :)

Gloom sold out on Saturday, I was lucky to snag a copy of Friday, awesome game my gf and I are going to try ....

Cool. We picked ours up on Friday and have been quite happy with it. Personally I had never heard of it, but Dextra zoomed right in on it.

[*]WotC's booth was TEENSY

Yeah, I noticed that too. Guess they're saving their strength for Gen Con.

Aberrant Games. Oh G-d, is this ever a sexy product.

Very. The lava hawt. Lemme know how it plays.

[*]Went out for dinner Saturday night and met some ENWorlders. Very nice food, too bad about the crazy price, crappy services and distinct lack of dessert.

I missed you guys there. I showed up with a couple of buddies, but I didn't know what anyone looked like and I got tired of going from table to table and getting vacant stares, so I gave up looking. I didn't think to ask the hostess if ENworld was present. Ah well.

Service by the bar was pretty good. But then, the waitress was probably attracted to my copy of Nyambe.

[*]Looney Labs are the BESTEST- clever games, clever events, and great volunteers.

The only problem with Loony Labs is that sometimes you couldn't tell the volunteers from the staff and the volunteers would enter some of the events. I saw a LL guy in a lab coat march down the elevators and annouce to the guys playing that giant sized cyrstals game that he had won a tournoment. Made us all pause for a second. I entered into the Nanofiction one myself. My wife and I played a lot of Fluxx when she was in the maternity ward. Good game.

Whew, Origins came and went in a hurry. I had fun as well, though the only ENWorlder I bumped into was HellHound. I caught him between games of...IceCastles? I think that was the name. Otherwise, I must have been too blind to see the few members I recognized from GenCon and Origins last year.

I'm worn out, though. More later.

Yep, between games of IceTowers. Giant IceTowers I might add. I've been waiting a couple of years to finally play that game.

We ran into each other one other time at the Con (Friday), but I can't remember where.

Sorry we missed you there! I let the host/hostesses know when we arrived that people may show up asking for En World, but then again whether they remembered or that was another question. :)

In regards to WOTC, their booth is getting smaller and smaller each year. I don't think they consider Origins to be any big deal. At least from the size of their booth. It was basically some Paizo stuff and poor Erik Mona who probably never left the booth!

Insight - Erik was at the Paizo booth (a 4-booth island), not the WotC booth (also a 4-booth island, but not as well located as Paizo's.

They had a fair stock of material at the WotC booth, just no real pimping or free stuff like they did in previous years or at GenCon.

My goal is to buy a BUNCH of blank card packs at GenCon this year, and to add an element of Mao to Fluxx. Every time someone wins a game, they get a blank card at random, add text to it (using a specific set of rules as to what can and cannot be allowed - No player should be able to be in a situation where they cannot draw at least one card during their turn, or play at least one card during their turn; no hidden state between turns; No tokens) and shuffle it into the deck. In time, I hope to have a fluxx deck that is at least 50% new cards.

Get yourself on the Loony Labs mailing lists, and also pick up their other Fluxx Games to add to your deck (Stoner Fluxx, Fluxx Jr, & Eco Fluxx-not sure if Jr & Eco are out yet). Also, there are a few yahoo groups and websites out there that have new Fluxx cards that you can add to your deck, and some of those people REALLY take playtesting their homemade cards seriously. One site even has a template you can use in Word to layout and add text to cards, then print them out at home.
