MYTHIC HEROES: Action-Packed Adventures with the Magic of Myth

Mythic Heroes is the high-adventure solution for low-magic campaigns, written by the ENnie Award winning author of GRIM TALES.

Using the archetypes of myth and legend envisioned by Jung and Joseph Campbell, you can bring an epic sense of adventure to your campaign.

This product will show you how to:

1) Use action points to replace magic items in your campaign, without sacrificing heroic action;

2) Create exciting, high-level skill and combat challenges;

3) Use the archetypes of the Hero's Journey to bring a sense of cohesion and cooperation to the party, further enabling them to overcome the challenges of a mythic campaign.

Awesome. I've been wondering when this was due out since the game day in January. :)

I delayed it for a while for a few reasons-- deference to competing products, more research and tweaking, and just plain laziness.

It has changed (and improved) a bit since the Game Day. GlassJaw (who played the Mentor that day) really helped with a lot of improvements-- clarity, gameplay, and otherwise.

I used these rules to "boost" the PCs for "The Seven Saxons."

If you are interested in recreating that experience, here's how I arranged the mythic archetypes for the pre-gen characters:

Torhelm the Hero
Lanferth the Fated (CarlZog)
Gandrael the Shadow (Capellan)
Sigulf the Mentor (GlassJaw)
Osgar the Oracle (Kajamba Lion)
Baldric the Trickster (JoeCrow?)
Aelfwyn the Maiden

Hmm... It might not be a bad idea to bundle the two products together, if there's any interest...

Good deal. It'll be neat to see what's changed when I get some time to read it later tonight.

Heya Wulf looks interesting. Who's the cover artist? Like it a lot but don't recognize it.

joe b.

The cover artist is Jeremy Mohler. He did quite a few b/w pieces for me in Grim Tales but is recently looking for more color, cover work.

You can reach him through his website:
http://www.jeremymohler.com/

I really like his stuff. He also recently completed the cover for Seven Saxons for me, and I am pretty sure he has some Goodman Games credits under his belt, too. If you seek him out, tell him I sent you. ;)

As for the picture itself, the characters may seem familiar for different reasons...

Thanks for the info, Wulf! I'm always looking out for new artists to bookmark so I have people to contact when work comes up.

EDIT: and thanks very much! :) and damn nice. The rules concerning shadowed, doubled, and exploding fit in very well with the class abilities. Nice scaling.

Wulf, I wish you'd sell this at the EN GameStore, so I could create a bundle that combines your mythic book with mine.

Could someone, perhaps someone who played in the GameDay, give me a sense of what the game is like?
