[Bad Axe Games] Wulf — Heroes of High Favor Anthology?

Gnomes...gnomes are problematic. If the book plays up the 'tinker gnome' thing that's infested D&D since Dragonlance, I'm going to avoid it like the plague - but I have more faith in Bad Axe than that.

If it harkens back to the good old 1e gnomes, a race a little more mystical than dwarves or halflings and not obsessed with crazy Rube Goldberg contraptions, then I'll be definitely interested.

Either way, I'm buying the anthology, so take that as you will.

I have the rest of the series, so I would probably pick up HOHF: Gnomes just to be completist. But I must admit, if I know that the anthology was coming out on the heels of Gnomes them I might be tempted to just wait.

My humble request: Poop or get off the pot! Either publish Gnomes or roll it into the Anthology and publish that book. My money is yours, whatever you decide.

I want the Gnomes, so even if it is a short print run set I want to get a copy. I think you guys are the only company that I can say I've really enjoyed everything you have put out.

Great... So, you're saying that not only do I have to cater to the miniscule Gnome market, I have to cater to a particular segment of the Gnome market?

The book will cover gnomes from a lot of angles-- eschewing "tinkering" but certainly to include "clever craftsmen."

Gnomes as craftsmen, gnomes as bards, gnomes as illusionists, gnomes as Earth worshippers, and gnomes as fey-kin.

In short, something, I hope, for everyone...

Yes. In fact, you'll be getting an angry letter from me if I don't get my "Guide to Red-Haired Left-Handed Gnome Bard/Shadowdancers" by the end of the next quarter.

My ears are open to comments, suggestions, etc.

I would recommend doing the Anthology through traditional means and, at the same time, releasing gnomes as a POD book at www.lulu.com -- where you won't have to spend anything upfront. Lulu does 6" x 9" books, has good quality, and will allow you to give the completists what they want while not tying up resources. And it wouldn't been too much work to make a 6" x 9" gnomes book using the same text and art that's in the anthology.

Sounds like Philip has a good idea.

Gnomes and Kobolds from Kenzer came out not too long ago and is a 3.5 D&D book and does a fair job with both races.

Gnomes aren't the most popular of races to start off with.

Hardcovers seem to be the dominant beast in RPGs these days and having the anthology would probably serve better than a smaller book that might be lost among the shuffle.

Only if I'm the totality of your target market. If I am, I'm flattered. And a bit worried because it's probably not a viable business plan.
