Us Zelda fans are feeling similar re: Tears of the Kingdom. Though we know when the next Zelda game is coming, not the next AAA Zelda title…

Here's hoping that success will lead to a Switch Port, or at least a Switch 2 Port.
As it stands it's the only BG game I haven't played, and yet the one I want to play the most.

Never underestimate the ability of developers to get games running on weaker hardware. I've seen amazing tech demos of a single coder in his spare time getting Super Mario 64 to run on Game Boy Advance hardware. Heck, somehow they got Xenoblade and DK Country Returns – both Wii games – running on 3DS. If developers want to make it happen, they can make it happen.

True, but Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS4 also happens.

@Marandahir Re: Switch 2, if the rumoured specs are correct, it's unlikely BG3 would easily run on it, but might be possible to downgrade enough to get going. The Switch 2 is pretty powerful compared to the Switch, it's about as powerful as a PS4 when handheld, but here's the thing - BG3 isn't on PS4 or PS4 Pro, and only runs okay on PS5, which is more than twice as powerful as PS4 Pro (let alone a PS4).

Because the Switch 2 market will probably grow pretty rapidly and be pretty large and relatively evergreen (like the Switch), I wouldn't completely rule out Larian farming out a conversion to a third-party company who might be able to cut it down enough to basically run at like 20 FPS.

If developers want to make it happen, they can make it happen.

You can easily fool yourself into believing this if you look at hobby coders messing around with ultra-well-understood codebases for games people obsessively port to other hardware (which is all the ones you listed), and are very practiced at making run, but it's not being realistic. There is no possibility of BG3 appearing on the current Switch in any form that people would actually buy, rather than hobby gamers would find amusing. Switch 2, like I said, a third party conversion company might do it, if Larian wants.

Not a chance of a Switch port.

Switch 2... we'll have to see the specs.
