Baldur's Gate I and II NPCs as 3e characters.

If you are like me, you consider the Baldur's Gate games to be the pinnacle of PC RPGs. The epic story, the addictive gameplay, the fantastic settings all serve to make them great games. However, the thing I probably love most about the BG games are the NPCs, they are so deep and interesting that I have considered using them as characters in a pen & paper campaign using the 3e rules. I started by doing a 15th level Imoen. I took her ability scores directly from the game, but added the additional ability points to her intelligence. Oh, and in case you are wondering why I gave her skill points in Profession (Cook), it is because she was raised by the bartender "Puffguts" and probably has worked in his kitchen a few times.

Anyway, without further adeu...

If I get around to it, I'll do Viconia next, since she happens to be my favorite BG character. Unless someone beats me to it. In the meantime, I'd like to see other people's ideas for BG NPCs as 3rd edition characters.

Please not that this isn't an "official" conversion, and I had to make assumptions about a few things.

A 3E version of BG. That'd be cool. I hope someone attempts that in NWN.

Think Minsc would have a few levels of Barb?

"Go for the eyes, Boo!" :D

After reading Minsc's description, it was quite obvious that he was supposed to be a barbarian-type character. But since barbarian wasn't a base class in AD&D, I guess they had to settle for Ranger.

At least, that's my theory. ^_^

"No second chances."

I'm somewhat afraid to replay Baldur's Gate II because I know it wouldn't be as good as the first time around, and I don't want to ruin the memory.

That said, what's the replay value like playing it again as an evil character?

EDIT: To keep on topic, you'd probably need to convert magic items from the game as well to make it authentic, especially Llyracor.

...

ahem ... [warning: slight misquote, haven't heard it in while] ... Magic is nice and flashy, but now Minsc leads. Swords and Spears for everyone!!!

"Go for the eyes Boo!!!"

Wasn't many of the NPC's like Minsc for example PC's in some of the campaigns that the makers of the game had played previously in pen and paper games?

I've read online somewhere that Minsc was based on a P&P character who hit his head in a dungeon and was never quite the same again. The others weren't mentioned though, so he may be the only one.
