Baldur's Gate I and II NPCs as 3e characters.

I'm pretty sure that there's a 3E writeup of the BG2 characters somewhere out there. Maybe one of the BG fansites?

IIRC Imoen is a rogue/sorcerer, Minsc is a ranger/barbarian (no surprise), and Nalia is a rogue/wizard.

I've read online somewhere that Minsc was based on a P&P character who hit his head in a dungeon and was never quite the same again. The others weren't mentioned though, so he may be the only one.

A lot of them were based on P&P characters. The best one is Xan, who was a completely munchy, sword-wielding githyanki fighter originally (maybe not githyanki, but definitely non-core race). Because they already had enough fighters in BG, they changed him into the wimpy, doom-and-gloom enchanter we know and love (hate?). Apparently the player was not amused at what they did to his PC.

My favorite is me, Wulf Ratbane.

Character concept: Fighter-thief, low charisma-- and regardless of circumstances, ALWAYS choose the most offensive dialogue option they give you.

I got into a lot of fights.

Since I usually play online with a friend, and he likes to run his own characters, we didn't have much room for NPCs. But by common agreement we would NEVER play without Minsc-- no, not even for the possibility of some hot chick-on-chick action between Ariel and the uppity druid.

Minsc steals the show.
